You know how in this game GLA are the bad guys, USA are the good guy and China is the neutral in morality and portrayal? Now in 2024 hindsight, US lived long enough to become the villains, and absolute muppets to the isnotraelis. GLA lived long enough to become the heroes China lived long and consistent enough to pass the US in credibility.

Generals in general (lol) had an underrated OST but I just prefer the China side of it because of the atmosphere, choice of ethnic instruments with modern electronics and distorted guitars, and just capturing that feeling of a small buzzing base growing and soon launching an overwhelming steamroller army. Check out that percussion and flute mix on track 5. Theme 7 is just so fucking bombastic and gradiose though, almost mythological.

I hate the China, but the musics are very good.

This game was so much fun to play, I always compered it to civ2 on ps1 since those were the 2 games I mostly played. Today I mainly play civ 6, too bad this one died off, I always liked populous a lil bit better because of all the specific interactions.
