You never dropped the pan to change the filter. Total waste of time and money. And trans will br dirty the first time you drive it. A total flush really is recommended. There are tutorials here that show you how.
@jameswerner5034 ай бұрын
I think he is aware that he only got portion of it. But doing this several times over a few months should result in gradually improving the quality of all of the fluid. This is quick, simple and cheaper than a more expensive fluid exchange at an oil change place or a dealership, which would cost over $200. His strategy here is to improve the fluid over time rather than pay to have it done in one shot.

Could you pump out what you could get out, as you did (about 3 quarts in your case) and then start the engine and then shift through the gears as you did? Would that fill the pan with more transmission fluid that would then allow you to pump out another 3 quarts or so or would it damage the transmission to run it after pumping out the initial 3 quarts?
@JohnHammerMedia10 ай бұрын
Great question! Truthfully, I'm just a home shadetree mechanic and I'm not sure if that is safe for the transmission. I didn't and never had an issue with the trans after I did it this way. I sold it to some friends who also never had an issue so I can say that while this way didn't get everything out in one dump, it worked well enough. You may be on to something if you can verify it's safe.

This was picked up by a radio distribution service and shared to stations around the country. This was before we could easily email MP3s around like we do now, but it's possible this was what you heard. The voices I edited in were almost all local to our station in Michigan, including listeners who called in and local leaders and politicians (Fred Upton was our US Rep at the time and wasn't far from the Pentagon when this happened)

Luv it. Im hopefully purchasing a cayman this weekend (2/25/2023) after seeing the price of $750 on the hp website, i think I'll make 1 myself. Should be a piece of cake, & cost around $150. Buy a small sheet of 1/2 thick shatterproof plexiglass, cut & or have it cut to fit using the oem cover as a template, either tint or leave clear with led's under it, use a piece of 1/2" u shaped rubber trim around the edge, & get the the fastener set up at home depot. Viola, same cover for 1/6th the price. Thnx for the idea buddy. I'll have a video of the finished product within a month or so of this post on my channel incase mine turns out great & some of your viewers want to try it as well to save big $.

My 06 Commander, I am installing a 2-inch lift, and also spacers! Do you think 2-inch spacers would stick out too much compared to your 1.5 inch spacers?

It will depend on the offset of the wheels and size of tires you're using. I was on stock wheels and tire size...and I was perfectly flush.

@John Hammer Right now mine are stock as well! I was going to purchase the Spidertrax with 1.75-inch spacers that would stick out a quarter of an inch compared to what you are saying! Great video! However, this does not completly service the transmission. In fact, you now have a very high ratio of old to the new fluid that was added....and its mixed. Not a good idea. I own an e350 super duty. That particular transmission takes 15.9 quarts to effectively replace the old fluid with new fluid (the torque converter has a good bit if fluid inside as well. To effectively replace all the fluid, you must flush everything, including the fluid in the cooling system and torque converter. I did this by removing the cooling return line and draining the fluid while at the same time replacing with new fluid by running yhe engine at various intervals to remove the tranny fluid from the entire system, including the torque converter. In some transmissions, especially 2004 and greater, the fluid capacity cam be up to 17.5 quarts.
