100% Actually did that not to long ago.. I had been super busy with life and kinda lost my motivation to work on my project car that was covered in dust so I started with a decent cleaning & some spray wax (plan on doing a full detail/paint correction after mechanical work is finished) but doing that got me back into working on her an getting projects done little by little..

For a first time on track, the most important is to have fun and stay safe, which you apparently did. ✌ However, you made some rookie mistakes that you may want to work on in the future, mostly bad habits from street driving: 1) Your hands are all over the place ! It wasn't much of a problem here because you were not driving at the limits, but could be disastrous if you increase your pace. Keep your hands on each side of the steering wheel at all times between shifts. Your right hand does not need to move anywhere, and keeping it on the wheel means you have permanent control and awareness of your steering. The hand discipline especially helps in case the car loses traction, as you will need to steer/counter-steer quickly and effectively to recover. Drifting is very different, so I won't talk about it. 2) You don't want to shift gears mid-corner. Find the right gear to keep the engine at optimal RPM through the turn, and stick to it. 3) Don't be afraid to use the whole width of the track. You did it more on your fastest lap, probably not a coincidence. 🙂 4) Proper braking technique is key. It gives the front axle more traction to turn in, and if you master it, you can even get the rear a bit loose to rotate the car around the apex. The reason why I'm saying this is because you do not seem to brake hard at the end of the straight or entrance of the hairpin, while the car should be nose diving there. Maybe you took it easy on purpose or the video gives the wrong impression. PS: I'm no expert, just sharing humble knowledge from my very short experience on the track, advices that were given to me then, training videos I've watched, and a many hours spent simracing the S15 and other RWD cars. As a fellow S15 owner, I'd like to take mine for a few good laps to really get to learn how it behaves. Hopefully in 2024. 🙂

hay man thanks for all the tips, ill be taking them all into account for my next track day, which wont be a while because all my cars are off the road. as for braking, i was having problems with hopping under hard braking so i was taking it easy mainly at the end of the long straight.

Nice video bro. I bought my s15 off my 70 year old neighbour 10 months ago for $1,000. He had a front fender bender (pushed radiator support in) but the chassis lucky wasn’t compromised. It say in his garage for 8 years and now I’ve bought it the front ends been fixed. Next s tea he is too build the motor. I’ll follow your build as inspiration

Never ever feel bad about being one of if not the slowest car about, the main thing is that you had fun, and got to learn the car a little better, which is evident from the couple of runs we had. Keep up the great work, and the Volvo will easily surpass the Camry in the near future 🙌.
