Thank you for making a video about my Grandpa. Miss him every day and wish I would've had my head on my shoulders in time to learn more from him.

Where can one buy the plans?

Not from any of the builders. Most have them built locally or they build their own.

Great video thanks for the documentary on this lifestyle and type of fishing. My dad and older brother used to go watch the dory races every year during the seventies. My dad ended up having a 24’ banks dory built to fish off Metlakatla Island with after he retired and loved it.

Not needed. The drift was bad, but once out it's fine.

I guess the concept of displacement was too much to explain for this age group😁

I'm glad you found it. I loaned my old camera to a friend that day as I took my usual photos, not knowing he was going to use the video, which they did not do very well yet. He then used a few of my stills and added more bits and pieces and came up with this. I thought he did a good job. I miss your grandpa too.

Respect goes out to the Learned family and PC dorymen that keep this important tradition alive in Oregon.

That's got me thinking .............. Mostly thinking we don't have these in the UK and it looks like we're missing out. Um. Also thinking, running up the beach like that, you're going to need a replaceable ablative coating like maybe GRP over (well, under) the ply too?
@doryphotos9 жыл бұрын
+Farweasel The boats have fiberglass and then paint over the wood. Some are experimenting with different coatings for the bottom. A lot of them have double wood for the bottom as well. It's the only fleet like it anywhere. They don't have to go far to fish, and there are a variety of good bottom fish as well as crab and salmon in season..
