They say that The Lamb "petered out" or had a weak ending. How in the fuck can you hear this last bit and not realize that this story completely resolved? Bittersweet? Yes. Perfect? No. Rael got shot in the first track and finally died in the last two tracks. Obvious.

If Beethoven and Mozart lived in this era they would undoubtedly be fans of Marillion.

Loved this version since first hearing it...far better than album version..this is what u call a classic band in action kids...H has well and truly filled the shoes he was left to fill ..and worn them out .and threw them away an walks barefoot....the right man for the job .. Anyway played this to many friends who are not into marillion, and everyone of them has loved it on first listen .and agreed it is purely classic ...and that H,s voice is something else

Just so you feel your are not alone in here, I feel the same about the last two albums. The lyrical content has become political and social commentary rather than painfully honest poetry about the times and the lives of people that elicit a huge emotional reaction. At the same time, the music has become much more a "wall of sound" which does not allow for any solos by just one artist. I generally like it when bands mix things up and give us something a bit different, but not when it is a change that doesn't suit my personal tastes. I'm still putting together plans for next year's Marillion Montreal Weekend, though. A sub-average album by Marillion is stlll better than 98% of whatever else is out there.

The 2025 round of "Marillion Weekends" is upcoming. Ten weeks after hearing my first Marillion song with Hogarth singing, I was in Montreal with a wristband for entry to three Marillion performances. Best concert experience of my long lifetime. Just Go!
