Hi im in UK with exact fault as yours starts for 20 secs then cuts out took it to 2 bmw specialist ? one said needs engine rebuild £5600 other said needs 2 x oxygen sensors then 2 x coil packs 2 x spark plugs etc etc. both WRONG after watching this AMAZING VIDEO I fitted 1 new blue relay from bmw dealer fitted and now works great especially when select hold battery charge when driving on highway saving battery for city driving which I believe is a Europe spec only

Glad you got it working well again and that my video was helpful! Since posting this video, I’ve also replaced my AC compressor and condenser myself at home in my garage. I also took it to a BMW specialist and they quoted me several thousand dollars. One of the codes they reported suggested I also needed 2 new oxygen sensors and spark plugs. I cleared my codes, have driven the car over 5,000 miles, and haven’t seen any additional error codes. I use the Rex periodically and it works best when manually activated - I did code it to allow hold state of charge as that’s disabled on the earlier model i3 sold in the USA. I’ve had one additional instance where the Rex did not come on when it should have at 10% battery, but I was able to turn it on and immediately restored power and driveability to get home. I believe my high voltage battery is fading and reports incorrectly at a low state of charge, especially when I’ve only done a partial recharge before returning home. Hold state of charge is great to have. While I don’t love using gasoline, it’s much better than damaging my high voltage battery or getting stuck away from home.

Nice, I just bought mine and it has slightly different buttons and says to hold Power, temp and wrinkle care. Your tip still work with the different buttons though. thanks for the post!

Good to know! I thought I was going crazy using the wrong button combination until I found this procedure shared by another person. If you want to add your dryer model number to your comment, it may help others searching for it later on. Glad I could be of help 😊

@@rebootninja8036 I feel bad for another guy I saw in a thread from a couple years ago who was pulling his hair out and had called LG and they had no clue what the issue was or how to fix it. What a weird glitch to have in the board for years in a row, and you would think everyone at LG would know about it! Pretty sweet running that test though, mine said 80% blocked so I took the exterior vent off and shoved a 1.25" shop vac hose into the duct and pulled out a bunch of lint and other crap where the duct made an upward bend to get to daylight

I think the display is INS not LN5. It’s an “installation” test. I have issues similar to yours where D80 just seems to be a regular occurrence if the load is larger or towels or something. My vent could probably use cleaning, but it vents to the outside and I can see air blowing. I’m trying to find what the numbers mean when the test is running. Mine did like yours and started around 31 and went up to about 51 before the test ended. Empty my dryer didn’t trip the D80 though.

Thank you! How did you end up fixing it?

We had a major hail storm earlier this year, and finally got our roof replaced last month. The roofer found a small clog at the vent on top of the roof - it’s a 2-story house and very steep so no way I’m climbing on the roof myself. They cleared the clog and installed an upgraded industrial vent - now towels dry normally on the first try! We can even use the energy saving settings on certain loads, it’s great. Our dryer has never worked this well at our house. I had also tried cleaning the vent multiple times with a super long cleaning kit, and upgraded the connection hardware at the dryer. Cleaning on the roof was definitely needed.

To clarify, I also bought an extension kit for the dryer cleaning so I was able to get the lint out of the full length of the vent tube. That did actually get rid of the restriction errors, but they came back fairly soon. Replacing the clogged vent on the rooftop seems to have been the best fix thus far. But the other steps I tried did each help to some extent.

Came here for the wiring. Left disappointed. I don’t care about the wall mud.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYHMlnydgbSbfMksi=Kga3R0hxEBzfyado Wyze has a pretty decent install video now that shows the wiring. When I made this I was one of the first to preorder who received it. You’re right tho, I dropped the ball on that bit. I did not initially realize that it stopped recording for that part. I really should’ve redone the video - maybe time to just take this one down…

Awesome, hope this helped! Some time after I changed mine, I finally got around to coding the car so I can activate Hold State Of Charge. I highly recommend it so you have the option to turn on the Rex when you know it’s needed. One of the last times my battery got low while driving, the Rex did not turn on automatically and I began losing acceleration, so I turned it on from the menu and it started right up. As soon as I released the accelerator and then pressed it again, the car drove normally and I was able to get home to charge. I was trying to finish my trip without using any gas, but needed the Rex for the final 2 miles. It seems my cars battery state of charge likely is not reporting correctly when very low, so I get some unexpected behavior. HSOC helps me avoid running into this issue, and reduces the wear on my battery by keeping the charge level at a healthier (higher) state. Here’s a pretty good video showing several things that are helpful to code: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sH65mmmkr7uab8ksi=XYfDqALytHh5VNdO

Was excited to watch the video but man you really dropped the ball on forgetting to show how it’s wired up. Making this video non informative pertaining to how it is wired correctly.

Yeah that’s a very fair point. I took a phone call during the part where I wired it up and didn’t get that bit recorded. I also fought with filling old mounting holes in the drywall for some time, so by the time I finished I was getting pretty tired. I maybe should title the video ‘Wyze thermostat almost-install except the fairly important bit of actually connecting it’ Because I preordered the thermostat, I seemed to be among the first few to receive it. At the time when I installed it (the day it arrived), I had not seen any end-user videos on KZbin about installing them. I decided to go ahead & post what I had and see how it goes. By the next day I found others had done much more professional videos with better lightning so I didn’t feel it would add much to remove and reconnect it for the sake of uploading another video. Didn’t mean to bait and switch or anything, hope some of the details I managed to include were useful.

Thanks for the video, can you please have a video on wires connected to wyze. I got mine but somehow its not working, I think I am messing up with the color code while connecting the wires to wyze thermostat.

The thing that sucks for me it’s that I ordered it and installed it and found out it’s not compatible :(

Bummer! What was the problem in your case, is your HVAC system high voltage or something else? EDIT - I had that experience with a Nest thermostat a few years ago: installed it but ultimately found it was incompatible. It would run heat and cooling at the same time, super weird. Nest support couldn’t figure out what the problem was but gave me a refund. This install was much easier going. Everything worked on the first try.
