Great video Jen! Such an important message and as healthcare professionals we see the effects of a decline in later life and how it can be preventable by consistent care of your health when you’re able! Very important PSA! Glad you’re back to being able to get out, looking forward to seeing your adventures continue onwards 🎉

Really good discussion. As you know I've been plagued with injuries the last few years, meaning I've had to make some big adaptions to my usual exercise routines. But I totally agree that doing *something* will help in the long run.

Well said, I have reached my 70s and was determined to remain mobile. I can hike for about 15 miles when the weather is nice because I walk most days rather than get the bus and I do Pilates for strength and flexibility. I watched my mother end up chair bound and did not want that to happen to me. Keeping mobile is crucial to a happy life

Another great vid! All that is left of the old St Helens church that you couldn’t find is a ruined tower at the edge of the sea. When you stopped for a sit down it looks like it was the other side of the bushes and trees that were behind you! Duver (pronounced like the bird dove-er) is an old Island word for a sea front that might get flooded in a storm. Looking forward to more stuff!

I love the walk across St Helens Duver, it’s a great place to see wading birds. You were lucky to do the coastal path from Whitecliff to Bembridge as much of it is now closed due to land slips and there is a big detour along roads. I’m enjoying your videos as I tend to end up going ‘off piste’ looking for coffee and cake so miss some of the things you have found 😀
@NoObstacle7 ай бұрын
We did see so much wildlife en route! It truly is a gorgeous place. 💚 I'm more of a tea and cake person! But I totally understand the need for cake detours 😛

Ha! Yes. I find that if I watch a video or read a blog by someone who has done the same walk as me, there is always something they have seen that I managed to completely miss! I reckon the locals must see me coming and hide stuff for a laugh…

The land slip you encountered was only in December 23, it was massive and the road from Shanklin to Ventnor has been closed ever since, we have no idea when it will re-open. Another interesting video as I have stuck to the downs in the area as the coastal path, which I loved to walk, is closed. I live around here and we have had a lot of cliff falls, the wet winter has been really destructive. Roll on a bit of summer walking and shorts instead of waterproofs 😀

I remember when Whale Chine had a way through down some steep steps but the coastal erosion has been quite dire along there, must admit I only do this bit of the walk in summer as I walk alone and get a little nervous when the path is too close to the edge. It was great to follow your walk to see how it has changed this past winter

This is my favourite walking area although I go over the downs once I get to Freshwater as the views are stupendous. The Three Bishops in Brighstone is a great pub for a stop. PS the IOW Pearl is basically a big jewellery shop with an excellent cafe, they sell pearls funnily enough

I walk the island paths a lot but on this section only Newtown Creek to Yarmouth which is lovely, everywhere is so muddy now after months of heavy rains. I sympathise with getting covered in mud, I spend a lot of time cleaning boots and trousers 🙂
