I recall reading a book about Viktor Belenko's defection with a Foxbat, and how at first the then-Soviet engineering was mocked by the use of steel in certain parts - until analysis showed where these parts were placed. Serious respect to the MiG engineers.

Hello ! Does anyone know what dimensions a modern aircraft gyrocompass has? I guess that in modern devices, bulky flywheels are replaced by miniature gyroscopes and miniature accelerometers, like those used in drones - quadrocopters. Is my guess correct?

Возможно я путаю ибо прошло очень много времени когда учился на это и потом работал не вдаваясь в детали практики, но по моему здесь был показан не главный принцип работы гироскопа и его свойства , а именно принцип работы сельсин датчика и сельсин приёмника, что возможно и скрыто под оставшейся закрытой невидимой оболочкой..а так сельсины скорей всего работают в таких элементах типа "флюгарки" - т.е.воздушного датчика угла атаки установленного на него своеобразной лопатки- лопасти которая меняет своё положение относительно самолёта подстраиваясь под обтекающий её воздушный поток...
