Love this video! I live in Miami and sailing to Alaska from Seattle on Friday. For a 7-21 day land or cruise I never check-bags -- I utilized a carry-on and backpack. Yes, I wear Barbie size clothing and back skinny. So I say skip the bulky clothing; go for cashmere/merino wool and wear your boots. I agree, pack sneakers and because I am a spa junkie bring OKA-B sandals. I bring clothes I can wear from sunset to sunrise and always best dress. No Amazon fashons for me. There are too may other venues to shop for stylish clothing and see 10 other clones in your outfit on any given day. Thanks for sharing your experience.

We sail on Harmony in September. This is not our family’s first cruise but it is our first cruise with a toddler! My girls are teens now and we didn’t cruise when they were little.

I book only repositioning cruises as I regard them as transportation options vs. airlines that avoid most of the effects of jet lag. But you need to factor in the cost of the getting to one end of the cruise. So for me the cruise is one end of a longer trip. And having the free time for longer cruises is a requirement. I book when schools are in session to avoid having many kids on board. But total agreement on the relaxing part.

I never bid for an upgrade as you have no idea where you'll end up in the ship. For a real bargain book an inside cabin, and for even more don't buy a drink package.

Leaving in 2 weeks on Quantum. Looking forward to Alaska again. Wasn't sure about this ship or how it is set up. I really liked traveling on Oasis of the Seas last year and thought that layout was perfect. Quantum looks like it's set up for this type of climate with all the enclosed areas in case of rain and real cold weather. Also from Phoenix and am tired of this 115 degree weather!

The Quantum class ships are definitely different from the Oasis class, and I love both. Alaska will be such a relief from this heat! Have a great cruise!
