I bought a 12000 btu model this year. Very pleased with it. Very quiet in operation but you have to be sure and tilt it a little, so the water drains out.

How has it held up a couple years later?? Fellow Monroe resident here as well, been hot the past few weeks here! Considering getting the same unit for our new-to-us house

Totally agree with this review. The unit is awesome. My unit is right next to my bed and I have no noise at all to effect my sleep. This unit is not even as loud as a floor fan. It took about 25 minutes to pop it into my window. Wow what a incredible designed unit. Midea is a very large company with world wide sales thus the quality is excellent.

Did I get unlucky? It’s been a week and my 8000btu (rated for 400sf) is leaking 1 gallon of water every day and my 300sf living room and hall stays at 79-80F even though I have it set to 72F even running for 9 hours

I just received the 12,000 u shaped Midea ac also. It was a pain to install the bracket because I placed it in my living room where I have a double pane window. Despite the slope recommendations it states it remained slightly slanted from the side inwards as opposed to outward. I’ll have to adjust it. It does cool very well and fast nd is remarkably quiet. I watched House of dragons on my regular volume settings on my oled sound bar.

You are correct it is quite when it works.I purchased one 12000-BTU for me and one for my son, and both stopped working after two years. I contacted customer service, and I was told, sorry it is covered by one year warranty. The code that appeared on the unit indicated loss of refrigerant. The owner's manual says that seals have five year warranty. They didn't even make an attempt to help me. Therefore we had to throw both in the garbage.

Thanks for sharing that info. It's the new, global, business model.

If you bought it with a credit card then your card should offer an additional 1 year of warranty on top of the 1 year that they claim

2024 almost a year. I'm 3rd room away. Real cool at AC, comfortable back here: cannot eve hear it running. I'll need to tip it more. One fellow off-grid diy tilted his more than the 1/8 or 1/4 inch then drilled small holes in the unit's most forward corners outside. That solved the drainage. -- I keep my inside filter clean. But noticed debris from birds nesting in the nearby internet installer boxes. Nice to hear their little tweets. Maybe can use a square of door screening to prevent that coming across my unit.

Due to the fact that you could practically close your window all the way there’s really no need to have to take it out for winter every year which is something I wouldn’t do doesn’t hurt to keep it in the window

I just bought 2 of these 12,000's from Costco for $300 each! They will be my backup to my central AC which goes out about every 3-5 years and takes a week to repair.

@maxsecrest4 ай бұрын
It also helps with security. I always thought it was crazy with my old AC unit someone could just shove it in and get access. As long as you use a brace to keep the window from opening further, this is much more safe than a regular window unit.

i just got a dinky comfort zone 5000 BTU, it does great for my 10 sq/ft appt. but when i do move, no matter how big or small my place is, im getting the 12k U shaped unit, for ease of install, that, and because summers where i live get upwards of 100 degrees as soon as dawn cracks, no central air or anything else means i need my place to feel like jack frost lives there. and oh how it will! great review btw!

Need advice before buying online. Could I install it in an 20 inch window (door) frame? They say 22-36" But seems like the AC is less then 20" large. So I wonder if it would be possible. Thx for your help!

I just got a 12,000 unit put in my living room a few days ago... I LOVE it! It is so quiet that I had to mute my computer to see if it was running (it was). It cools quickly and seems to cool all the way into the kitchen where I have a smaller, regular window A/C. That one hasn't run much at all since I have it a degree warmer than the Midea, and it is cooling all the way in there so it is definitely saving me some $$$!
