I think solo raids bosses with simple mechanics are probably best for testing dps since the bosses instantly respawn and you can reset straightaway with different builds thanks to the nearby wardrobe and essence guy.

In terms of paragon skills, I must admit It's not that well thought out. I mostly use treasure hunter and mastermind for day to day adventuring and I've tried to pick up as much armor as possible from all the different trees - hence my relatively low damage for my paragon level and higher than average secondary stats.
