I have lived in Thailand 17 years and am intimately involved with elephant rescue foundations. Every elephant in Thailand, with very rare exceptions, that is trained for entertainment, riding, or labor, have been taken away from their mothers at an early age and put through a prolonged process of 'breaking' the elephant's will through traumatizing pain and fear. This is a long standing process called Phajaan (Crushing), where a mother's love is replaced by pain and fear. Once the elephant is broken and compliant, then further 'training' takes place with a hook to inflict yet more pain. When the elephants are not performing they are often chained, away from the eyes of the public. A terrible life. This video is being used to glorify this elephant's talent and to perpetuate this practice for profit. Tourists need to wake up and BOYCOTT any and all elephant shows, riding, and any venue that puts elephants in any situation other than living in their natural environment. Please practice due diligence and patronize bonafide sanctuaries, which are usually 'look but don't touch' venues, allowing elephants to be elephants in their natural habitat with companions. Elephants do not enjoy painting but are merely performing what they have been trained to do under duress and the threat of pain. They deserve to live in a proper sanctuary and never feel chains or hooks again. Let's promote the welfare of these majestic creatures. Feel free to fact check everything I've written. Look up Phajaan (Crushing). Please donate to Elephant Rescue Foundations if you're able. Don't contribute to their misery. Thank You for your consideration in becoming part of the movement to improve the lives of these gentle giants by allowing them to live with the dignity they deserve. Make the world a better place.

It's so funny that no one ever shows the mahout's other hand. What's not funny is when he slapped her trunk while he was getting another brush and that he has the very same weapon that they used to domesticate her.. THE SHARP BULLHOOK. ask him why he carries this!

If only the person could show more or the mahout and what he's doing.. This a-hole is carrying a bullook!!!! Big Red Flag!!! The reason the elephant yelped is because a nail was pressed into her ear, Copy and paste these words in you search. you will learn how they are really trained .telenoche - memorias de un elefante - capítulo ii

Ojalá me equivoque. Esa bellísima esa pintura, ni a mí me saldría😊😊

For those who want to know how this magic trick is done, read on below. For those who want to believe fantasies, stop reading. OK, so this is the trick. The elephant has no idea what it's going to paint. Elephants aren't artists. The way this trick works is that the elephant is "trained" (by all accounts I've ever seen, quite brutally) to hold the paintbrush in the trunk, and then move the trunk as directed by the mahout (trainer), who pulls on the elephant's ear. Essentially, the elephant just becomes a giant living remote control arm, where the trunk is the arm, and the ear is the joystick. If a mahout directs the paintbrush this way, you'll get any painting you want (that you pay for), including written words in any human language (that you pay for). If you look around on KZbin and other video sites, you'll find plenty of evidence of this. Just key in "Elephant writes" and you'll see for yourself. Usually, that's enough to shatter the delusion and realize it's just a parlor trick. See, there's a reason why you get these miracle paintings only from elephants in tourist traps in Thailand, and the most you'll ever get out of an elephant in an honest zoo is some random paint splotches. It's because elephants DON'T actually paint pictures/words. They just steer their trunks in the direction that the mahout guides. I seriously wonder who would pay $180 for an elephant painting if they realize that it's all just a trick. But, an amazing thing happens, once someone pays the $180, they're almost impossible to convince that they've been duped by a trick. Once someone falls for the trick, that's it, you can't convince them that they were tricked, and they'd rather believe in the miracle instead.

No trick. They do so because they are tortured. Sadly from the childhood of the elephants on. Please look for "Phajaan". The Mahout besides holds a wooden stick with a sharp end. The 'tool' is named "bullhook".

Yes it is because these poor elephants get beaten and abused in order for them to learn how to paint. It's not something they naturally want to do, but it's what they're forced to do for human entertainment.
