The clouds darken and gather, each new day is gloomy than the previous one. Whether this is really the end of the world or just the perception of an exhausted mind is no longer important. His short-lived survival ended on the last piece of food, the crumbs of which were left somewhere near backpack, far behind. If he had overcome his fear, he could have lived a somewhat longer, but the red eyes of his friends were too heavy for his devastated psyche to bear and forced to run. Run and stumbled, stumbled and fell, fell and got up, over and over again to the distant growls, only to find himself outside the city in the middle of an empty field with metallized grass, the tips of which painfully pressed on the rubber of his boots, making the already painful running even more unbearable. So he stoped. Wandering around the glittering surface at that time seemed better than the prospects of becoming part of a new reality, and only the slow realization of the misery of the current situation and the growing feeling of hunger made to think about the opposite. But it was already too late, there was nothing on the horizon anymore but mountains and hills. All that remained was to trudge forward through the slowly cooling air in the hope of stumbling upon a settlement. The few hours that had passed since that moment now seemed endless, interrupted by clouds of smoke appearing in the sky from somewhere over the hill. Soon, the backs of strangers appeared behind one of the houses near a blinding campfire. He wanted to scream, to call for help, but only a soft mumble came from his strangely heavy lips. But it doesn't matter anymore, they're so close, just to reach out. And be horrified. Rising by themselves, his gleaming limbs grabbed the nearest one and pulled him along, dropping the bodies of both to the ground while the crowd, with screams and cries, began to scatter in all directions. Only now that he realized what it was like to be one of them.
