I've watched a few videos on this build and yours was the most informative. Helped out a lot.

If there are any ppl here new to the game, PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A DIE GRINDER TO YOUR PINION TEETH!!! DO NOT DO THIS!!! Judging by the video I would say probably avoid buying gears from Yukon as well.

What I have found in the past on every diff deceleration noise is warn pinion bearings causing the loss of preload. But, i am talking about factory units that have been in the field for thousands of miles.

I have a Yukon duragrip 8.8 28 spline in a 1997 thunderbird with independent rear suspension. When I put the CV axles in the circlips went in like it's supposed to. The problem is the CV cup comes back out 1/4-3/8 of an inch before the circlip stops on the gear. The bearing surface is pulled out from the roller bearing on the side (the one behind the seal the CV rides on). I don't think this is built for the IRS even though it's advertised that it is. Yukon tech line has been no help.

If you can’t figure out how to remove and properly reinstall the minimal number of parts in a carrier, keep your hands off of it and leave it to someone else.

A lot of people think you're breaking in the engine on a new car, that's a lie to get you to actually adhere to the warning. it's the rear end that you're breaking in.

Damn. Was hoping to not have to pay to have this done on myJL, but i dont have many of these tools and the front axle disconnect adds another layer of complexity. Let alone switching from stock open to a limited slip.

Fwiw, when you’re explaining/educating people, you need to avoid using industry lingo. If you are explaining a Posi and say “it’s a really strong posi” …that doesn’t help. It’s like a computer nerd explaining how a cpu works by saying “it starts doing really powerful cpu stuff” 😂

Wow, god must love you. Everything just lines up the first time & you didn't even use a pinion depth measuring indicator. you didn't need any set up bearings with press fits removed for the alignment measurements and your bearings magically don't get damaged by impact tools. I'll have to get you to purchase lottery tickets for me some time.

My son has a 2017 Jeep Wrangler JK. 3.73 gear ratio. He is told his spider gears need to be replaced. The ring and pinion gears look ok. Can we just change the spider gears or should the whole housing be replaced that holds them. The other thing that needs to be fixed is the pinion seal and I have to find out how to help do that for him.

Wondering if you guys could help. I have a grizzly Yukon in the rear of my jeep TJ rubicon d44. It has been great since early 2022 when it was installed, but now it is clicking when driving in a straight line, like it used to do when turning. Nothing is hung up, visual inspection everything seems okay…any thoughts? It has about 10,000 miles on it.
