5'9", 150 lbs, nonaggressive expert skier, 170cm ski. I skied 72 days last year. Groomers on firm snow, it would not hold an edge unless I was going extremely fast. Chattered at speed. On slow turns the tail washed out and came around immediately placing me perpendicular to the fall line. Off piste in cut up firm snow it needed jump turns. Not at all an all mountain carver.

While Völkl has done their best to “tame” the Kendo for lighter skiers such as yourself, it is still a pretty burly stiff ski just a little more versatile than the Blizzard Brahma. It needs to be thoroughly “driven” and while many expert skiers should be able to do this, I’d venture that it’s not an optimal platform for skiers under 180 lbs. At 210 lbs and 6’1”, I ski a Kendo 88 in 184 as a daily driver in the East (Tremblant mostly) and it’s very rewarding if pushed hard. It will lock into a turn if going full tilt and track like a locomotive much like a GS ski does only releasing once unweighted. So overall, I’d agree with the general comments made in the video. For someone of your weight and experience, I think there are much better skis. Notably lighter skis with carbon construction. A few that come to mind in the 88 underfoot category are the Head Kore, Elan Ripstick, Salomon Stance, Atomic Maverick and even some light Titanal construction skis such as the amazing Stöckli Stormrider (not the more demanding Montero).

Atomic maverick 88ti or salomon stance are better choice for you but i strongly suggest you try them before buying. Kendo and bramha are to stiff for you if you are not agressive all the time. Maverick is very light and nimble way easier then kendo. I have tried both.

Merci d'avance

Now I'm retired all-being-well I'm going back to skiing next season [2024], and with luck after 3 or 4 week long holidays I'll be able to ski improving intermediately. For the 2025 season I'll be buying my first set of ski's to progress with, and Elan will probably be on my short list.

The concept of three side cuts is a ridiculous attempt at marketing while ignoring the fundamentals on a how a ski works. While a ski manufacturer may establish such measurements in the tip, waist and tail, it is still going to have only one basic turn radius. The manufacturer is actually suggesting that if you adjust your stance to the forward, middle or rear, the ski will turn at a different radius which is absolutely 100% false. This is nothing more than another version of the tapered shovel that has been in powder skis for over a decade. Manufacturers will be constantly playing with the minds of skiers, 99% percent of whom could never spot the difference in a blind review.

I've never heard of anyone snubbing Elan like the guy in the video says. First of all, they're the ones who invented parabolic skis. They make some of the best skis out there. Plus, Glen Plake promotes and designs for them. End of story.

hey there, thanks for the great videos! I'm very undecided between this one and the Dynastar Speed 4x4 963 (I just ruled out the Rossignol Experience 82 Ti). These both seem perfect for me - I'm an expert skier, go mostly on piste, I like to go fairly fast and do all kinds of turns including short radius, but I do like to go off piste every now and then when condistions allow. I read some raging reviews of the Dynastar but this ones seems as good and slightly cheaper. Any thoughts? Thanks
