This is beautiful! I heard you perform it at the concert in Glasgow in May - so happy to get to hear it again!

Thanks, I appreciate that! I was wondering how many people would recognise it. I made this a stand alone piece because I believe it's one of my finer melodies and since the concerto would take a while to produce, it would be a shame to hold it under lock and key just because the rest of the piece isn't finished yet. So happy you enjoyed!
@antisocialcrowwoman2 ай бұрын
@@EthanDavidLoch It is an absolutely lovely melody, and in such an elegant and emotional piece as well! The structure of it, too - it really tells a story. When you finish the concerto, will you make an announcement on your KZbin channel for how we can listen to it?

Wow! Gave me all the feels as always! I wish I was there ≡ this, since I have a strong feeling it needed a flute part there, especially in the middle of the piece but probably all throughout.

Yes, keen observation! The orchestration at the beginning was not meant to be too busy; just muted tremolando strings under the piano's melody, as this starts very mystical and mysterious. However, as it develops, more instruments start to appear. It's going to be quite awesome when this work fully comes out!

Congratulations, Ethan! To me, this sonata proves that Haydn was no less great than Mozart and Beethoven. I hope you learn the second and third movements as well, if you haven't already. The first movement demands great clarity with its many thirty-second note passages, and I find the clarity in your performance outstanding! As always, I'm also hugely impressed by your beautiful tone and dynamics.

Both your playing and recording setup have improved! Was that also a different piano than what’s typically featured? It had a more delicate sound overall. I’m glad you learned to lighten your touch on the keys; when I first heard you play, you used a more firm technique naturally, but lightening your dynamics is also an important yet challenging skill. Well done!😊

My word exquisite chopin. Reminds me of Bernard d'Ascoli when I actually watch the video. Lovely technique with no showmanship and everything for the music. Natural and beautiful chopin.

My wife and I had the great pleasure of seeing him play with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra this evening in Truro. Absolutely beautiful and a marvellous touch. Thank you Ethan and the BSO for a wonderful evening. Could have done without the horrendous downpour as we left the venue, but hey ho, it's Cornwall. Absolutely loved the encore of your own composition.
