This deceased narcissistic junkie is not a source for which to die on a hill. I admit, it's entertainment listening to her wild tales. How would she remember when she was off her head on heroin? She was a secretary at a university, yet, comported herself as though she had the IQ of a genius. The only reason rock stars wanted to know her was that she was a dealer and knew where to get good smack. Poor Bon was under her spell and it cost him his life. No wonder Mal and Angus couldn't stand her. They had good judgment.

@JesseFinkBooks Thx, I checked after posting, as usual. It backs that Brian wrote much of th BIB material, as he digs syllables. Lots of them. I'm sure Mutt helped shape the sound around Brian. But Bon could stretch his notes better, fill open space, wrote sexier rock with better innuendo. Bon always crept around with his song, at every listen, you could feel him lurking. I never think of Brian when I'm listening to their songs, but he writes great, textbook rock lyrics.

I think Bon had a lot of ideas and lines that contributed to the album but I don’t think he wrote the entire thing. Even Brian has admitted that when he was writing the lyrics to you shook me that his pen in his hand had basically started moving on its own. Almost a supernatural experience and that they all felt Bon was there with them. Not only that but a lot of the album was written for Bon. The lyrics for the track Back in Black was completely about Bon and how the band basically went right into the studio right after Bon’s funeral. What color do you wear to a funeral? Black. Hence Back in Black also. The line “you know I’m glad to be back. Let loose from the noose” was how the band almost died but came back. The line “nine lives cats eyes abusing every one of them and running wild” was about Bon’s wild life style. Even the beginning of hells bells was inspired by bad weather in the Bahamas where it was recorded. There are plenty of other examples. I believe Angus and Mal may have had material and ideas from Bon but not full written songs. Angus and Mal were ready for him to write full lyrics to the songs but he unfortunately never made it in.

Brian may have added a line or two to some songs, but he was never a lyricist like Bon. Back In Black was written primarily by Bon. Brain came in and within 6 weeks he wrote lyrics, practiced, rehearsed, recorded, finished his part of the album? Yeah, sure. AC/DC would never have gone into the studio without first being 100% absolutely prepared.

Come on, man.... Brian's lyrics are NOTHING like Bon Scott's. They are like chalk and cheese. The rhyming schemes and rhythmic displacement on Hells Bells & Back In Black specifically don't sound like anything Bon did before and wouldn't have suited his style of singing at all.

You say that but Angus, Malcolm and Brian have denied that Bon wrote any lyrics, since the 80s for back in black. He died before he could write anything. Ac/dc songs and lyrics arent that complicated, you for sure can write an album in 6 weeks. They way Bon and Brian write lyrics to fit the music and rhythm are totally different. Bons flow through, Brian is very much on the beat 1 and he hammers it hard.

But why would AC/DC lie about it and pretend that Brian wrote it though?
@JesseFinkBooks
@JesseFinkBooks 2 ай бұрын
David Krebs, manager of AC/DC, in my book:"I think [AC/DC] may have done that while giving the money to Bon Scott within the same theory of Phil Carson’s that [Atlantic Records president] Doug Morris made a mistake by putting out [Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap] after [Back In Black]; they did not want to have ‘Brian Johnson’ on an album that was written by Bon Scott. It would have been that simple a decision. That same kind of thinking may be why they gave him the writing credit. They would have seemed much weaker if [Back In Black] had said ‘Bon Scott’ and not ‘Brian Johnson.’ I was not involved in that decision.”

My dad is into poetry. He writes his own and he reads all the greats. He knows a decent amount of Bon's lyrics, especially for a bluegrass-loving guy. Lol But he was always really impressed with Bon's wit and humor and his relatable lines. Especially lines like, "I've got patches on the patches on my old blue jeans..."; my dad grew up poor so he could relate to what Bon was writing about. When I asked him what the chances were that Brian would be able to write like his predecessor, Bon, with lines that are near verbatim (just a different perspective) such as, "I'm coming on like a hurricane", which is just like Bon wrote in Stick Around with "You came on like a hurricane" 5.5 years prior. Or use the line "Made a meal out of me" which is like Bon's line in Love Hungry Man from a year earlier; "All I wanna do, is make a meal outta you". Plus other Bon-isms or actual straight-up Bon expressions. Meanwhile, the band says, "Brian just so happened to write just like Bon!" My dad laughed. My old man is a smart guy. And he knows good, talented writing when he sees/hears it. I said, "Dad, how do you know so many AC/DC lyrics?" He said, "Between you and your brother I've been listening to them for 45 years. How can I not pick up on it?" Lol Think about this one: In Hells Bells the lyric goes, "MY lightning's flashing across the sky", right? Bon gave an interview where he was asked, "Are you AC or DC?", Bon replied, "Neither! I'm the lightning flash in the middle!" So, "MY lightning's flashing across the sky" is an OBVIOUS Bon Scott line, to me.

Same here, Jim. I really doubt Angus would have thrown them out. From what I've heard and read about Angus it just doesn't seem like something he would do. I don't think he really cares about Brian's legacy and if people one day find out the truth about BIB. To me it was obvious when they got Axl in the band (and they can pretend all they want, but he was most certainly there to take over from Brian. Look at the way they quickly wished Brian the best on his future endeavors). During an interview Angus was singing Axl's praises, comparing him to Bon. Cliff Williams said he hadn't seen Angus so excited in many, many years. Angus talked about how Axl reminded him of Bon in that he had he was like a "Folk character" and had his own personality like Bon. Then you had the Youngs wanting to boot Brian in the late 80s because they were going nowhere fast. I think the Youngs wanted another Bon from that point on. Someone who could write lyrics so they didn't have to, someone who could sing and come up with melodies over their riffs and ideas. Basically, another Bon who could whip their riffs and chord progressions into full-on songs the way Bon did. I will always credit Jeremy "JR" Hunsaker for coming up with that entire analogy on who the real songwriter was; Bon. The only thing that saved Brian's job then was the success of The Razor's Edge. If that album did about the same as Blow Up Your Video they would have no doubt given Brian the axe. Cheers, pal! Oran
