I mat most of my photos when I scrapbook and to make more 6x4 photos fit on a 12x12 paper I trim the photos down 1/4” on 2 sides. Then my paper makes 6 mats with no leftovers. Usually I do the same concept for other sizes too.if I want 3x4, the mat is 3x4 and the photo is actually 2.75 x 3.75.

Love the diagonal cuts! What a great way to separate three separate things within the one overall subject. I wasn't convinced with little green polka dots either until you backed the title with that pattern. Bringing that paper behind the title helps to make it not seem out of place in the border. Nice layout!

I like that you show the completed layout, and then show the process. I feel like I move my photos around the same way, and trim, trim, trim. Inspired for my own Animal Kingdom animals layout.

Hello, (A year later), I did this in Totally Tonal soft pink. I think the border on the bottom would have looked better (on mine) had I made the squiggle lines thinner. Thank you for giving me the ideas.

Well, when your pictures aren't very close up it's easier! Frankly now that I mostly take pictures with my phone it's easier to crop things!

@@NicolesScrapbooks They are not as thick as the ones in the actual mat pack and I like to use them as mats for my pictures and I don't like to think that I'm wasting paper that I could be using on my pages. I just prefer them to be separate and the quality that we're used to.

Yay! Me too - it's amazing what a little cropping can do - especially when you're just cutting out parts of the photo that are totally irrelevant to the main subject.

I spend one to two hours to do a layout. Doesn't matter how long your video is , because viewers can fast forward where they want.

Great layout, as always. I don't think you need a title. But since you love titles (!) maybe you could highlight the upper right photo a smidge more with an arrow or something?? You could use a shimmer brush and draw a short, wide arrow. But then again, it looks self explanatory as-is! Keep doing you!!! 😊

I love your videos… the time doesn’t matter to me. I generally feel you get things done way quicker than I do (I way over think things sometimes, and I am generally a pretty simple scrapper 🤦🏻♀️).. but I definitely enjoy seeing your process.. your thoughts, how you decide things.. keep doing what you are doing! 😊

Thanks Michelle, that means a lot coming from you. :) I feel like I am sometimes quicker but maybe I have no idea because there's not a video timer telling me exactly how long I've spent on a layout! (I also rarely have the chance to sit and just work on a layout without interruptions except when I'm filming the videos!)

It has been interesting for me to "think out loud" when I do this - I don't usually talk to myself this much, or this specifically. Listening to myself later as I'm editing the videos might even be helping me understand what's going on in my own brain!
