Forgiving is not forgetting but it's seeing others differently. It's metanoia. It's seeing them as born again so you can see yourself the same way. We are all created in the likeness of God and we don't have the power to change God's creation, even into flesh, but we think that we can and that thought will change. ""If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent". "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. " Forgiveness is what you do with your mind be(fore) you can yourself (give) in love and safety and not in fear.

This was a really good message and I love the heart of ECC and the vision! What you described I believe is a church committed to spiritual intimacy. Which spiritual intimacy by Matthew Kelly defines it this way- a commitment not only by each person to be the best versions of themselves but also a commitment to helping others be the best versions of themself. Which in Christian terms it's iron sharpening iron, spurring one another on towards love and good deeds, and sharing in each other's burdens as in willing to carry someone across The valleys of death or move them out to safety during a spiritual battle. I love this vision. The Church representing a greenhouse, being the covering for each church member ,and each church member representing a planter. Where they have a chance to thrive and grow and to know God, know others, and make a difference. This is a beautiful vision. I have been dipping my feet in the water but maybe one day I'll dive in.
