Nina, your channel is an oasis for real readers! Reading must be a hobbie and most of the time social media makes it feel like an obligation. Thanks for your videos and sharing more of your routine and yourself here. I'm glad I found you here. ❤

I love sad books but i don’t think i’ll ever be able to read A Little Life! The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo has been my favorite book of all time since 2018 and deserves all of the hype and the love, if people look down on it for being a booktok book then that’s their problem because there is a reason it got so popular!!

I love your emphasis on reading being fun - I fully agree but I often struggle with also seeing it as a competition - I'm going on a reading retreat this weekend and, even though it's the perfect opportunity to just relax, lose myself in books and spend hours and hours reading, I always find myself setting targets and counting how many pages I've got through... :sigh:

I really enjoyed hearing about your liking of sad books, as odd as that sounds. One of my favourite books is Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrel. It is historical fiction, but it is very much about life and connection and loss, I could connect to it a lot, even though it is set in a very different time. Maybe you would enjoy it too? It was definitely a book that emotionally got me.

of your list i've read looking for alaska and the seven husbands of evelyn hugo! which by the way, i feel similarly to you when it comes to tshoeh, i loved it and read it twice but it has it's flaws!! also i think this video might be my final push to finally read tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow

Thank you so much for sharing! I think it's so wonderful how different books can be just perfect for a reader if they pick it up at the right moment in their life. Even if the book isn't considered the best by other's standards, it might be a book that perfectly fit what you needed. Love hearing what those stories are for different people. ❤

I had the same thoughts on these books!!! I think you might like Holiday Romance and Snowed In, by Catherine Walsh. They're technically a series but you could read either one first and all it would spoil is that the couples end up together (what a twist! ) They are both very believable romances and the characters are so nice to read about.

Your best vlog yet Nina! Great reviews and nice to see books reviewed that are not witchy, fantasy, whimsical fluff, which is what a lot of people seem to just be reading today. I've added three of them to my wishlist so thanks for that 😂

I used to love to start my weekend mornings slowly by drinking coffee and reading a book. And I'm trying to get back to that rutine. But in the workdays I need to wakeup early and maybe I'll manage to squeeze in about 10-15 minutes of reading time but I usually do most of my reading after work. Somehow my reading has been bad and quite slow and inactive for a while now which is sad. But thanks for this lovely video, maybe it will inspire me to take more time for myself in the mornings :)

I recognize this so much! When I started a job that I had to wake up early for my reading suffered a lot. But at least you are still reading and taking time for yourself!! <3 Thank you for watching

Hey goede video!
@elizabethrichie623113 күн бұрын
I think the tandem read is more of a re-read thing? SMJ wrote the books separately and i think they should be read one after the other like she intended! Saves you switching back and forth

Can someone explain to me why you need to switch between the books? I don't think I'll ever read anything SJM, but I'm interested in what that's about.
@secretlyamacat13 күн бұрын
Both books are happening sinultaneously. One book follows characters A, B and C, and the other book follows characters D, E, F, as they go through things at the same time. You can definitely read them one book at a time, but the experience truly isn't the same as reading about things as they happen instead of getting the different characters' story when you already knows who survives/how some of the stories end (as the two different groups end up somewhat together at the end).

I tried to read the Pumpkin Spice Cafe. I was just so bored I couldn’t finish it. This autumn I read House of Leaves. That is definitely not boring. It’s actually a love story but I have to admit it has minus cosy vibes.

I just read this book as well, and I also feel kind of the same. Like it was enjoyable, the vibes were cute, super easy to read. But it didn’t feel very impactful or real, I couldn’t imagine the main characters as real people, especially Jeanie. It felt a bit forgetful. And although I had a good time, I didn’t feel like it connects with the reader emotionally.
@eliza.the.earthling20 күн бұрын
Super cosy vlog !! I’m a bit skeptical about these kinds of books bc I don’t read romance and I worry they’d be too cutesy for me so I’ve found my niche with the Shady Hollow series which is wholesome but murder mysteries with animal characters in a forest 😂

Also I relate to the humour of filming yourself to try to get a thumbnail shot 😅 sometimes I forget to though!!

6:26 I'm sorry to point this out, but it's distracting me too much: Is there a stain on your camera lens or does the camera have a dead pixel? Also 100% agree, most miscommunication plots are just. So. Annoying.
@astoldbykat21 күн бұрын
I've only read "The Pumpkin Spice Cafe" so far, and I definitely enjoyed it mainly because of the vibes. The miscommunication was easily my least favorite part. I haven't read the 2nd one yet, but thanks for the warning on the amount of spice in there!

Loved the idea. I haven’t read Malibu Rising, but I’ve read Daisy Jones and Evelyn Hugo, and I don’t remember the character you mentioned. Now I want to reread everything just because it’s all connected!! Nina, if you don’t mind me asking, where do you edit your videos? I have a channel in Portuguese, and I would love to add similar editing to my videos.
