The 3.8 supercharged would have made the Fiero a supercar for the common man. The interior sucked; luv my Lexus SC300.

great review , i purchased a 2024 chevrolet trax in march of 2024 and so far i love it, a few software recalls but they took care if it and i dont put many miles on the car, it does live most of its life in my garage, always clean and cared for here in northeast pa, i have only put 3800 miles on the car so far, and had it serviced at about 3300 miles oil and filter and tire rotation, to be safe, great fuel economy and very comfortable, so i am very satisfied with the car so far, fun to drive and great gas economy, the buick i love also, suscribed to your channel so i will be watching from now on, great job :)

Sorry, I just can't agree with your assessment of the XJ40 from a styling point of view. As you say, development started in the 70s and the finished car looks very similar to the prototypes of that era. The Series 3 "face-lift" post-dates those XK40 prototypes and, in my eye anyway, the Series 3 should have been far more in evidence in its replacement. The subsequent X300 and X308 suggest that there were those at Jaguar that felt the same way but were somewhat stuck with the XJ40 as the basis of those cars. If the snippets of the new car that have been released in the last few days are to be believed the new car will owe more to ripping off the Rolls Royce ugly-but-well-built image that works for RR largely because it is well built.
@AutoAtlantica
@AutoAtlantica 9 күн бұрын
@@ColinMill1 I’m simply referring to the controversy surrounding the XJ40’s debut at the time. Many criticisms were addressed with the X300 refreshed car. I personally like the design evidenced in the illustrations. It’s bold and intimidating, and it needs to be indicative of a completely new start. Many have associated Jaguar with poor build quality and unreliability over the past five decades and I’m glad that’s being put behind them with this reset. It’ll be interesting to see a video of your constructed thoughts on the matter.
@ColinMill1
@ColinMill1 9 күн бұрын
@@AutoAtlantica Thanks for the reply. The only way they can reset the build quality and reliability reputation is to start building cars with high standards in that department. Nothing about the current re-brand, or indeed any re-brand can do that - only years of positive customer experience can do that. Talking quality doesn't do it.

From my point of wiew, in Sweden - Jaguar have an exclusive reputation, "traditional" design elements and are regarded a a brand with a clear heritage of british design/tech - old jag are cheap, but so are mercedes too - esp the more exclusive models. I do not think the aim at woke ppl will draw new buyers, as most younger ppl in city of Stockholm use car sharing/carpools while ppl as myself (60+ will remain a good taget yet) - I think this is as bad for jaguar as if volvo should dump their safety image - and at last, I think the woke pendulum will swing towards more "traditional" values as most of reasonable ppl with decent jobs want stability - to raise their kids and live as comfortably as possible. Not dance around in colourful dresses looking like crash test dummies. I cinncerely hope Jaguar will survive and take us into the future without forgetting their past.

There is s suspicion that this ad was intended to shock, in order for it to go viral. In that they have succeeded beyond any marketer's dreams. If that was the case, they would keep a stiff upper lip in response to the negative reactions, and then follow up with adverts featuring the cars etc.. Everyone would be interested to see what follows due to the viral spread of the initial ad. But, they didn't do that at all: instead they came out and insulted the public, calling them "vile and intolerant" for not liking the initial ad. That tone deaf response kind of blows the above theory into the weeds. Sad..

@@AutoAtlantica You're not making the least bit of sense. If people don't like the ad, they have all the right to do so. An awful, dystopian, perverted, ugly, tone-deaf woke ad deserves all the negatives and more. Calling people "vile" for reacting negatively is a very strong word to use. Certainly from a CEO, and if you think I'm vile as well, well, I've got you buttonholed too mate.

In 2004 I bought a second-hand 2001 X308 XJ8, a Jaguar of the Ford era, for my wife, and this car is still owned by us. Our XJ8 has been an amazingly reliable auto likely because the Ford era contributed to a generally much improved build quality compared to our prior Jaguars. We have been consistently attentive to routine maintenance over the years and that has kept our classically handsome XJ8 running beautifully to this day We both believe that Ford's ownership was a perfect answer allowing Jag to address many of the manufacturing issues especially evident in the earlier years. As much as we love Jaguar, we both believe that the new advert campaign is a fundamental error, and not a correct direction to begin its new BEV model rebranding. So we disagree with your opinion, sorry. Cheers.
@AutoAtlantica
@AutoAtlantica 15 күн бұрын
I thought Ford’s ownership was excellent, but it didn’t stop the snobs of society branding them as rebadged Fords. Ford couldn’t get Jaguar into profitability, either. After all its various ownership struggles, Jaguar’s overwhelming reputation among the public at large is unreliability. Nobody is forced to agree with my opinion; I’ve presented my opinion here based on the facts of the past 58 years, knowledge of the industry, and why I think that reset is overdue. If you think otherwise, then I’d rather a case be presented rather than “I disagree but I’m not going to say why” which suggests an opinion only based upon feelings. It’s a new era; the only aspect the past should have on the future is to learn from it.

Good points, When the Mark X (10) hits the streets, it was rather radical compared to its predecessors ( same could be said for the XJ). Those still running around their beloved 2nd hand Mark V's etc reacting much as those today. Just like those that bit their lip when the Silver Shadow appeared. Fast forward to the XJS, OMG the horror "how could they" E Type lovers speak of it as blasphemy - yeh for Gen X it was their poster Jag. They do need to pull a cat out of the bag though. In the past 10years there's been nothing inspiring that's "poster on wall or a screen saver" material. "one day I want one of them" moment has been lacking in their product range.

I worked for Rover from 90 to 05 so the Sterling is definitely from my period. In 15 years I only once ever fancied a Rover with my staff discount of 35% & when offers were on we could get a brand new car for half price. I wanted a Rover 220 Turbo Tomcat coupe. Couldn't find 1 in any dealership in West Yorkshire as I worked for Rovers automotive Foundry in Leeds ( West Yorkshire Foundry) I found a 6 months old demonstrator but that didn't entitle me to my discount. Cars had to be in stock in any Rover dealership unregistered. 800s wasn't that bad & 600s the rest were crap.
