that was 13 years ago and we didn't have the professional equipment for recording (filtering out noise from the audience) as now. And as the concert was in winter, there were a lot of people having a cold

Fantastic rendition of this piece.Played first trumpet on this as a freshman in HS, but absolutely loved the low brass part so I am learning it again for fun on trombone.

Musikalisch echt gut!!!! Nur aus Neugier: was ist das für eine Wanderei auf der Bühne? Kenne leider die Besetzung und die geforderten Stimmen nicht genau, deshalb erschließt sich mir das nicht so ganz.. :D

Der "reine" Choral zu Beginn des Stückes wird mit klassischer Choralbesetzung aus dem Rücken des Publikums gespielt. Deswegen ist ein Teil der Musiker zu Beginn des Stückes nicht auf der Bühne. Mit Beginn des Hauptteils gehen sie wieder an ihre normalen Plätze. Bis dahin ist das Stück so besetzt, dass die "fehlenden" Musiker auch nicht auffallen.

Same! Played this piece in an old stone cathedral in Ireland in 1999 -- the reverb was unreal. One of my favorite memories.

I would have thought that in a British context the first piece of music would be described as Handel's 'Hail the conquering Hero comes." Tochter Zion is a wonderful German hymn set to the same music, but with words not set by Handel.
