During a missions trip to Mexico, we had an evangelistic fiesta where we prepared food for 75 people. That included 50 of us. Over 300 showed up. The level of beans and rice in the pots just never went down. We didn't have heating tables, the the food, including the tortillas, which never cooled down either, never dwindled. I was one of the last to eat. Some had 2nds & 3rds but the pots were still half full when the evening ended. I'd guess those baskets were as full at the back row as the front of all those people. They had more when they finished than what they started with.

Amen! Side note - just this weekend I wrote down some of my personal thought’s & what’s on my heart. To mention a few; Perseverance- Keep running the race! Continue to increase your faith. Don’t settle for a mediocre Faith, but a faith on fire! Exercise your faith & allow God to show up! I love the book of Hebrews and look forward to listening to all these. Thank you.

Station #4 - The Cross Read Mark 15:16-32 (pg. 846) This scene shows how the cross was not only a physical form of torture, but along with it came public mocking and ridicule. Jesus submitted himself to all this suffering for one reason, because he loves us. He knew that it was all worth it so that you can have a relationship with Him. How does it feel to be loved that much by God? Read Mark 15:33-41 (pg. 846-847) Jesus’ mission came to its apex at this moment. Everything Jesus had done and taught, every miracle and healing, every challenge and parable, all comes to this point when He offers up His life, as an everlasting sacrifice so we can be saved. Jesus did his part to take away your sin, what is your response to this incredible act of love? Take with you a small nail as a reminder of God’s love for you. Review verses 37-39. Jesus followed up every claim and every prediction by giving up his life. The curtain being torn proved Jesus’ divine authority. Because it is finished, God’s presence is no longer confined to the Holy of Holies behind the curtain but is now in the heart of every believer. The roman officer openly and emphatically declares Jesus as the ultimate authority by exclaiming “This man truly was the Son of God!” If Jesus is indeed your ultimate authority and you have received his grace, you also can declare it by taking communion. Pray and prepare your heart. Once you are ready, take a piece of bread, dip it into the juice, and partake. Prayer Prompt: Lord, thank you for taking my place and paying the price for my sin with your life. Thank you for loving me even when I don’t love you back. I claim the promise tonight that it is by your wounds that I can be healed. I confess… Optional Deeper Dive: Luke 23:26-56

Station #3 - Trial Read Mark 14:53-65 (pg. 845) In this scene the leading priests, the elders, and the teachers of religious law exercise their perceived authority over Jesus with false testimonies and bogus claims. Yet, Jesus remains silent before them amidst the chaos. Even after being declared guilty He stays silent and takes the abuse and mockery. What does this show you about the true heart of God and the wisdom of well-timed submission? Review verses 60-64. In these verses Jesus breaks his silence and makes His only public claim of His divine authority in the entire gospel by declaring “I Am” (the name of God used in the Old Testament). Why did this bring such an extreme reaction from the high priest? (hint: it was completely about authority and ego/pride) Read Mark 15:1-15 (pg. 846) The entire high council knew their authority was too limited to accomplish their goal of killing Jesus. So they took Him to Pilate, a roman official that could execute criminals. He figured out quickly that Jesus didn’t deserve death, even had Jesus flogged to try and resolve the situation, but Jesus remained silent. Why do you think Pilate did not exercise his authority and let Jesus go? (hint: it was completely about paralyzing fear) Prayer Prompt: Lord, I know there have been times I have let my own ego/pride and paralyzing fear affect my decisions. Please help me to gain the wisdom of submission as I am transformed by your Spirit to be more like you. Help me with your power and your authority as I deal with and work through… Optional Deeper Dive: Matthew 27:11-26

Station #2 - The Garden Read Mark 14:32-42 (pg. 844-845). This scene gives a vivid picture of Jesus being fully divine as well as fully human. Being God He knows what is coming and what is required to accomplish his mission as Messiah. Being human he has anxiety about the suffering and pain and seeks God for any other way possible to avoid it. There is a tension between God’s way and my own selfish desires. Have you felt this tension in your faith journey? How have you dealt with it? Review verse 36. What does this prayer of Jesus teach you about God being your ultimate authority? How does this help you manage the tension between your flesh and your faith? Review verse 38. This statement shows that with our own strength we will come up short, but Jesus steps in with His divine power to accomplish what we can’t do on our own. How does this help you manage the tension between your flesh and your faith? Prayer Prompt: Lord, thank you for the example of Jesus in the garden submitting to your divine authority in His life. Help me to submit to your divine authority in my life and my faith. Right now, I am struggling to… Optional Deeper Dive: John 17.

Station #1 - Dinner Read Mark 14:1-9 (pg. 844) In this scene the woman had given complete authority in her life to Jesus, and she lived that out through her actions. These actions were condemned by some as wasteful, yet Jesus commends her publicly. How do your actions reveal who or what you give authority to in your life? Have you put other things (even “good” things like helping the poor) before Jesus? Read Mark 14:12-26 (pg. 844) The Festival of Unleavened Bread is centered on the Passover Lamb and how its blood saved the lives of God’s people in the final plague in Egypt. At this specific Passover meal, Jesus introduces communion, which centers on Jesus becoming the sacrificial lamb to save the world by ushering in the new covenant of grace. How do these actions of Jesus not only foreshadow his death and resurrection, but also confirm his divine authority over all creation? Prayer Prompt: Lord, thank you for sending Jesus as Messiah and establishing the divine authority needed to accomplish your mission through His actions. I confess to you that at times my actions have not given you the authority you deserve in my life. Thank you for your grace, and now please help me to… Optional Deeper Dive: John 13:1-17
