This video introduced to me to the i4 “Ultimate” Project when it was about to begin construction in 2014 and 8 years after that, in February 2022, the 21-mile corridor was fully completed. Along with that, the Wekiva Parkway-SR 417 beltway was completed in the beginning of this year (2024).

Thanks for the update on business 40 improvements, one question. Where would you go if you were to die today? Seek the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ before it's too late. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Hell is real and Heaven is also real. You don't want to spend an eternity in Hell torment without God. The only way to escape Hell is to follow Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour. Study the KJV Bible to know more and pray and seek until you find Jesus. Don't delay tomorrow might be too late. You are not promised even the next minute. Do it now

It's kinda weird that some parts of this only have 2 free travel lanes. There really should be 3.

Eventually the expanded interstate itself will become congested. It's happened with Boston's Big Dig and many other highway expansions.

Yes, it's called induced demand, and is a known traffic engineering nightmare. But it's never properly addressed with solutions like public transit because there's too much money being made on the reliance of the automobile.

You're going to do all this work and not make that road 3 lanes? It's all well and good but 3 lanes is what's really needed here.

Don't like the roundabouts. People do NOT know how they work. It's frustrating. Something so simple, but yet so hard for some people to know how to drive around in a circle!

We did the so called "Express Lanes" here in Southern California along a 10 mile segment of Hwy 91. It has been an absolute nightmare and very few drivers have anything positive to say adjustable tolls, which top out at around $1 per mile, and hardly decrease at all day or night. I pity you folks in Orlando.

The bridge what it looks like now and the construction is good I’m hoping when they finish it will look like this.so far it looks good in person but if they destroy the old bridge ima miss it it’s been there for a while

How bad does the traffic get? I only been to Topsail a few times but never noticed a ton of traffic even in July with the swing bridge open. Maybe being from Philly or going to jersey shores i dont mind the Topsail traffic. But found the swing bridge pretty cool and not sure why you would build a bridge with essentially 1 lane each way? Why not 2 lanes?

I wish they could leave the swing bridge and maybe restore it and just have it there as a extra or just a part of history

Another dumb bridge that does not have room for broken down cars, wrecks or for an emt to get through. What's the deal with all the 2 lane bridges? Have they not learned from all the stalls and breakdowns and what it does to the whole mess by now with all the other 2 lane bridges? Doesn't even make sense. Ppl say "Oh this bridge can help get emergency vehicles over and not be in line for hours." Ok so what about a wreck say at the highest point of this bridge? Now with backed up traffic both ways tell me how you get an ambulance through? Smh

I've been a frequent visitor, and permanent resident, on Topsail since the early 60's. My parents spent their honeymoon at a hotel on S. Shore Dr that isn't there anymore. I've watched Surf City balloon into the tourist mecca it has become. Yes, the swing bridge is charming, iconic, and reminiscent of a different time, but it needs to be let go. It has exceeded it's service life and has needed replacement for over a decade. It was opened in Nov of 1955, over 60 yrs ago. It is expensive to maintain, the swing mechanism frequently fails, and is quickly becoming structurally unsound. The traffic issues this bridge creates in the summer time are just horrible. Locals know not to even try to ingress/egress the island on turnover days in the early afternoons, or when the bridge opens for boat traffic at the top of the hour. The traffic sometimes backs up on 50 and 210 almost to Hwy 17 on the mainland and halfway to Topsail Beach on the island. To critics of the high rise replacement, that want to keep the swing bridge ... you're nuts.
