Hi Hunter. Thanks for publishing all these wonderful performances! The music for this show is actually Frank Ticheli's "Blue Shades." I know this not only as a life-long band geek (trumpet) and lover of concert band repertoire but also as a past band director. During my first year teaching, I was the Assistant Band Director at Etiwanda HS in southern CA. In the spring semester, I directed and conducted the EHS Symphonic Band in the performance of this demanding selection. Thanks again for all that You do!

Interesting- I don't know much about guard and haven't watched since high school, but this comment makes me wonder if this sort of evolution has occurred in parallel in many similar disciplines/sports. This reminds me of precision skating of the 80s and 90s vs synchronized skating (the name changed around 2000) in recent years.

Thanks for this. Please could you put in the title that this is the piano concerto no.1 by Keith Emerson. Also the artist is Keith Emerson, not Emerson, Lake and Palmer. The concerto was released the first time on an ELP album, but Lake and Palmer do not play in this concerto. Today you can find the concerto on another CD devoted to classical music, and it only mentions Keith Emerson. Thanks 🙏

THIS SHOW IS BRILLIANT! I'm in love with how whimsical it is. Great use of abstraction and implied narrative throughout show. Looking back, I don't know how this show didn't win. I love guard during this era because it proves you don't need 30 million tricks, effects, and tosses to make a great show. I think guards now a days are so caught up on GE instead of creating a show that has CONTENT!
