As an instrument rated private pilot, I used to fly a few feet over a cloud layer at 140 knots. It looked a lot like this. It was great fun to fly through a canyon of clouds and bore through clouds at the end. ✈️ ☁️

Isn't the sea level in NY lower than the sea level in LA due to the curvature of the Earth? If not, than how does a straight line from LA to NY not like go like into the ground and stuff? What if we are in a simulation and time is running backwards, but we see it running forward because that is what we were always taught?

I'm surprised the other way, I thought it'd be so fast I couldn't even perceive it at all. The fact that as fast as light is, it still takes enough time you can see it to travel the globe is a reminder of how big the Earth really is. We're used to thinking of it as this itty-bitty blue marble floating in space around the sun, but even the "itty bitty blue marble" is still big.
