I remember Watching this animation. And was the first time it got me studying the history of middle earth. Having finished watching the hobbit. 🔥

I waited to watch this until I finished Andy Sirkis’ reading of Silmarillion. Glad I did. This hit hard enough I nearly cried. The door of night opening, the devastating of the modern world, the Valar towering over the battlefield as titans of light, and Turin literally punching Morgoth’s head off, were all stupendously epic. Especially Turin’s strngth of spirit being so great he was matching Morgoth in scale. But then Yavanna healing the world and Feanor atoning by giving over his Silmarils… that got me.

I bailed at 2:05 after seeing the narration about the sun and moon that was wholly inconsistent with the silmarillion. If they couldnt get even those basic details correct and respectful, why watch further ? Ive had enough of arrogant and out-of-touch-with-fandom writers at Amazon ignoring the source material in order to stroke their own egos ... so anytime i smell that, im gone. Whether or not that was the case here I dont know, but I left after getting a whiff of the same lack of faithfulness to the source.

i find it very interesting that while all the other valar have a specific domain, ex. manwe and the air, aule and the earth, yavanna and the plants, melkor is explicitly stated to not have one specific purpose or calling, but rather has a piece of all of the others within him. it makes me think its tolkien implying that we need a role, a passion, a vocation, or otherwise we will simply become dominators and managers. instead of creating and nurturing, you oversee and dictate. to me its so relevant these days in that it seems the incentives are to not search for your vocation but instead to go into lucrative business or managerial roles, roles of dominion rather than cultivation. maybe im off my rocker.

Where is morgoths discordance. The whole point was that morgoth was singing a discordant song and trying to shape erus craleation to his own dominance. It should he one song for tue very start and another song added for the morgoth part and it should be two songs at once, which would be chaotic, which would well tepresnt tue first shaping of ardela, which morgoth tried to ruin
