looks like a subdued Jacko here, almost normal, whtever happened to him ? anybody know ? former team mates, room mates, quasi associates ? anyway goin by this he was @ RFC in '78 as a 18yr old,did they or did he go to SFFC of his own accord ? he was 19 goin on 20 here n returned to RFC for the start of the 1980 season but couldnt get in the side at all due to it being one of the best RFC lists ever assembled @ the time, made his VFL debut with MFC the following season '81 @ age 21,thnx for this upload, fascinating character was Jacko

What is it that has made Perth perform so poorly in the ensuing years? This side here was as good as anything going in Australia. What happened?

Lathlain Park is 165 metres from goal to goal, which means from the distance from the centre to the goals is 82.5 metres. Cody kicked the ball when he was level with the rear of the centre circle, which meant he was 84 metres from goal. The ball landed just outs the goal square making the distance of the kick approximately 74 metres. If it was a 90 metre "bomb", the ball would have needed to clear the fence and land behind the seats. The longest kick I have seen at Lathlain is by Graham Ramshaw in 1962, when he was playing for the then Perth Thirds. Graham took a mark just short of centre and was right on the centre spot when he went back for his kick. Graham took 5 paces for his drop kick and the ball went through the goal uprights landing on the rear seats. The estimated distance was 90 yards or 82 metres. In July 1968, the Melbourne Sporting Globe reported that Graham won an Australian kicking competition with an 88 yard (80 metres) drop kick

During that period bowling speed was measured from the point of time the ball left the bowlers fingers up to the point it reached the stumps on the batting end by way of rate of frames per second nowadays the bowling speed is measured just as the ball leaves the bowlers fingers disregarding atmospheric, aerodynamic conditions and slowing down of the ball once it bounces off the pitch.Thats the reason run off the mill bowlers of today clock upwards of 142 kmph 😅No one can convince me that a modern day 145 kmph bowler of today was faster than Holding leave alone Thomson! And Imran's action had not completely evolved and he was at least a yard quicker 1981 onwards up to the beginning of 1983 when he fractured his left ankle/shin!He came back with a bang but according to my assessment was never as quick as he was during that period!

Ah the good old days of proper one dayers, when everyone had a good team. I dont know how many times it used to go down to the last over or the last ball. Brilliant stuff. Obviously i dont bother watching today, not even close for excitement and entertainment.

Great find. I was there, in the old Olympic Stand. Seems so ‘old-fashioned’ and staid now. Ian Redpath seems to be the only fieldsperson. And so many no longer with us: Frank Tyson, Froggy Thomson, Max Walker, Rodney Marsh, Ashley Mallett … probably others too.

Buhagiar, Peake, Rioli, Sewell, Lester-Smith, Turco, Taylor, Cronan, Brad Hardie. Delmenico came from Melbourne Demons, Noel Carter played in Richmond's 1974 Premiership, Doug Green, Thomson and Ken Judge. So 14 players played VFL. Not a bad bunch
