Beautiful! My first car was a 72 hearse (caddy superior) . Yes by choice a hearse.. The guy who installed my stereo system actually did the wiring and some fabrication for the original Ecto (Ghostbusters)... I really ,really, wish I picked his brain more .. He had binders and binders of photos they took during the process of building Ecto1

That amp rack is like a magic trick how effortless it moves 😮 It must weigh a bit and the cable management 🤔 so impressive all the little details everywhere.
@wayne_harris3 күн бұрын
The amp rack is heavy. But its balanced and that allows it to spin with relative ease. Originally, I was going to use a pneumatic motor, but everything I looked at turned too slowly. I like to "spin" it fast!

The etak is amazing. Bmw and a few others would use wheel speed to tell you if your tire pressure was low due to the increased wheel speed of the smaller diameter wheel vs the others. Then the government said you need tpms
@wayne_harris3 күн бұрын
The Etak is probably priceless. I am working on it now. I got it to power up but there is a problem with the switching power supply... makes audible (physical) noise, and the display also looks "fuzzy". I found the inventor's name on the Internet and I'm trying to contact him for schematics and a service manual. I'll probably have to do it the hard way and just replace the electrolytics and maybe the transistors. Or, maybe I'll replace all of the components in the PS.

@wayne_harris I guess you'll have to. The capacitors as you said. Make the butthole pucker when you turn them on. I guess being on Texas. It's different than being in NY. Major temp and humidity changes. Plus you upgraded the OEM capacitors correct? Either way yeh they probably need attention.

How many people in your time during the development of your cars, said stop. Its stupid. Its a waste of time and money. Think about youre future? Snd are you glad you didn't listen to them, or regret not listening to them? Word of advice for people chasing their dreams, that get a lot of negativity frok most regular people?

@wayne_harris thank you very much. I just watched a video of a guy with a great system. Someone commented that it's a waste of money. And to think of their future. I'm like are boats a waste of money? Hot tubs? Motorcycles? Yes maybe. But do what you love. If it brings happiness. Then do it. Thank you for your response. I look forward to watching you bring it back to life. You've inspired so many people. Born in 85. All my friends and I spent money on speakers and Amps. Instead of drugs. And I still love the integration of home audio and car audio.
@poncethegayboi8 күн бұрын
You mentioned your GPS system. I'm extremely interested in it. Can you elaborate more on that system
@wayne_harris8 күн бұрын
The navigation system is made by Etak. It was a navigation system that used a combination of map correlation, dead reckoning, and an electronic compass. There are about 100 magnets (more or less) on each of my two front wheels. Sensors pick up the pulses when the magnets pass a coil to determine the distance travelled. This is combined with input from an electronic compass. The results are compared to map data. I really hope I can get this working. The company is out of business since 2000. It powered up when I dropped it off at Austin Speed shop, but it did not power up when I picked it up. Also, the system uses data cassettes, and I worry they will break. I'm going to take my time with this unit.
@poncethegayboi8 күн бұрын
@wayne_harris my cousin is also a private pilot. He would love this. Id love to see videos on that system. Besides the complete engineering of the audio system. Having this level of navigation in a vehicle at that time is a modern marvel in itself. And deserves attention. Looking forward to seeing your progress! Thank you for taking time to reply to me. I appreciate it. I hope you are proud of your achievement. One last question, Did you ever think almost 40 years later, Terminator and your work would have this much impact? You talk to anyone that's my age or older now. They all know the car. I mean you knew the car was awesome. But did you think it's legacy would still give goosebumps today? I'm so happy you preserved it.
@poncethegayboi8 күн бұрын
@wayne_harris basically speaking you made a wheel speed sensor before they were really a thing. Well I'm sure they had them. Abs I can't remember when abs became standard at the time. But during the Terminator time. I don't believe abs was that well known let alone an option or now standard equipment. I'm sure I'm missing some technical stuff but amazing. I can't wait to see more!
