OMG, I finally found out who founded the wonderfully helpful-to-me FB group "Empowered Former LDS",and am now following you here as well! I am only 2:25 minutes into this video, and 🎯 you're nailing Exactly what I have most struggled to deal with in my life for the 40 years since I (and my ex-wife and two never-mo children) have left the LDS church! I was choked up and tearful throughout this presentation, it hit home so deeply and accurately. I am heeding your advice, and will actually make those lists that you suggest. It's now early December, 2023, and this is literally the Best Gift I could possibly receive for Christmas!! Thank you and Bless you!! 💖 Furthermore, I hope I can Share this with my two children and their mom (my ex-wife, who amazingly is still a best friend) 🙏

Wendy, I believe we met at a Thrive meeting in Mesa about two years ago. I enjoyed your story. It is interesting to me to hear a woman's point of view and her mental state as she starts thinking for herself. I share a bit about myself in a couple of podcasts I have done: Mormonismlive #54, and The Backyardprofessor #125. I am amazed by how much we exmormos a so dissimilar, yet so much alike. Our Culture was Almost all encompassing. Even though I was a 75 year old retired college professor, when it came to my church, I still hadn't really begone the think for myself yet. I'd love to hear from you if you should like to.

I do think it's necessary to listen to these podcasts so folks can get that validation they need that leaving was the right thing. I didn't have anything when leaving the church and it was very lonely and difficult to find information to help me deprogram and dismantle those embedded beliefs and practices. Now, 14 years later, I rarely listen to these podcasts because I've validated my exit and feel confident where I am now.

I’m grateful for the work people do with these podcasts. It serves a very important stage in our deconstruction. I’m just also aware of how they can ensnare us and keep us looping rather than moving forward once we’ve truly determined the church is not for us.

I just found you after getting counseling for transitioning out this year from the LDS faith. I was 43 years not missing a single tithing or Sunday "blessing". My counselor was friends with someone in her community in Washington State that she turned to for extra FB pages and resources to help me here in Arizona. You were one of the resources she mentioned that might help me. I have watched a couple of your videos now so far. This information you share on Reclaiming your energy source, could not come at a better time for me. I am definitely stuck in going down every rabbit hole and feeling so angry and wanting to warn everyone and see the church "go away". This helped me so much!! I listened to it twice and took notes. I look forward to listening to all the stuff you have made available. Thank you so very much!! You have probably saved me hours and hours of creative time and energy I need to discovery who I am right now. There is always time later down the road for activism and warning if the calling feels right. I haven't even healed yet or know who I am right now.

I'm experiencing a faith transition, and there are parts of my life with the Church that I don't want to leave behind, and other parts that I do want to leave behind. I recently have stopped attending church and I also finally talked to my parents about how I'm feeling, and it seems like my bishop and my parents are lovingly trying to reignite my faith without my consent or cooperation. This video is helping me understand my experience, and their experience, and what I want them to know.

I am from Mexico, I watched your video, I love it, I love it and I love it. You put your words and ideas in a way that it makes it easy to follow. I left the church also when my eyes were opened about the dirty acts of JS. He was an adulterer a manipulator like you mentioned it, a hypocrite and a liar. He made up the book of Abraham, the book of Mormon and all the doctrine. He made up the story of the first vision, he shot three people before he died. he was a power seeker. My wife does not go to church either, does not wear garments, does not read scriptures. she lost her faith in religion but still gets defensive if we talk about the mormon church. I hope many people that have questions about Joseph smith or other things about the church watch this video. Thank you so much because it reinforces my decision for not going to that church anymore, for ever and ever. it is not the church of God.

No real shunning among LDS. That's in principle. However, what happens among family is they may disown family members who leave the LDS church. It is worse for people raised in the church. It is also a problem for those who live in Utah or Idaho, since employment may be effected. Your LDS social network may also be affected.

Other reasons for leaving may include a belief that they are in a cult, logical and itellectual appraisal, belief changes or differences, spiritual conversation to another faith, life crisis, and poor or hurtful responsiveness by mormon leaders or congregations. The focus is on the reasons a person begins to doubt the church, where that path leads them and, for some who converted to traditional christianity, then shows the reality of what a difference having a personal relationship with christ can make in their lives.

I do not know of any other mainstream Christian religion that requires support groups and how to videos about leaving. It seems to me that leaving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should be a simple matter of just stop going and find another church to attend. I don't understand the need for justifying your decision with a video. If you no longer believe in it just leave and find another church that makes you feel comfortable. That's what I did for awhile, 5 years to be exact, but found out that no other church that I attended could fill the spiritual void that I felt after leaving so I went back. I tried many other churches and denominations but could never find one that had the answers to my questions about God and my purpose of life that I found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I even quit attending any church for about a year. But, hard as I tried I could not shake the feeling that I actually missed the spiritual experiences that I had enjoyed when I was a member of the Church. I used every excuse I could think of to justify my decision. But one day as I picked up a copy of the Book of Mormon that I still had and started reading it. I had this overwhelming confirmation that it was true. The next Sunday I walked into the church after being away for so long and started the process to come back. I'm glad I did. But I certainly understand why some leave. You have to do what makes you happy. I thought I would be happier somewhere else. As it turned out for me being a member of the Church is what makes me happy.

Just because a person leaves the Church doesn’t mean it’s not true - it’s because you make the choice to leave and not believe anymore. Just because we personally disagree with what the Church says and does doesn’t mean the Church is wrong. We may take offense with the Church doesn’t mean the Church is doing anything wrong. When you leave the Church, just think what you’re doing to your eternal salvation and that of your kids, and what you’ll have to say Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ come judgement day. Do you honestly think they will be ok with what you have done by leaving the Church?

Are you really thinking I didn’t take all this into consideration? After being out 7 years, knowing that I could always return, I am happier, growing, and more connected to God than I ever was in the church. Your points hold no weight with me. Also, you are not aware of the extensive research I did to come to the full and conscious conclusion that the church is not true. I actually wanted it to be true and leaving was very difficult for me as it is for my clients. Your comments are dismissive to the complexities one goes through when they learn what has deliberately been hidden from the main body of members. Members are living under layers and layers of deception and intentional programming. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it, which is why they do not return.

I'm wondering if your parents controlled you unrighteously with religion? I never experienced any of those feelings in my latter-day saint home. I always felt I enjoyed church and enjoyed the spirit freeing me from guilt and not feeling the pressure you describe to pretend. The Bible is full of does and Don'ts. Full of indoctrination but it keeps people away from harmful pitfalls in life. Look at what happens without faith when you walk down Los Angeles and see thousands of burned out drunks and criminals. Without it that's what happens to whole societies without God they become a bunch of burned out drunks. I still hear pain in your voice and wonder if you are trying very hard to convince yourself. To prove you have been misled about Joseph Smith. Find it by linking my name to my video part 7.

Article of faith 13 we believe in being honest. They lied.! And are still lying. Wendy think of this: just thought this last week. Okay the Church doesn't have the gold plates because Moroni took them back. However, should not the stone box still be at the hill cummorah? That could be some evidence. I have been there. Only a monument stands there. Should not the church show the world the stone box Joseph Smith records in his history verse 51,52. The Church doesn't even offer the stone box as evidence. Where is the Stone box? I can't unsee what I have learned this past year. I almost feel as if the Church itself is the great and abominable church spoken of in Nephi.

I love this video so much! It’s so important to get to a spot in your journey out of Mormonism to where you actually feel like you can move on and focus on something positive! It does take time for that transition, and for me it’s been two years. Basically I went through the 5 stages of grief, from anger all the way to acceptance. I left the church and found great comfort within the ex-Mormon community! Now I feel like I need to focus on what is important to me. In my case that’s Jesus. I am a born again Christian and I’ve been trying to spend my time reading the Bible and gaining a greater relationship with Jesus. I think I will always be tied to my ex-Mormon community because leaving the church was such a huge milestone in my life and I also have family who are still lds. So I like keeping up with what’s going on in the church, but I’m trying not to be obsessed with it. I want the major part of my time and effort to go to what I feel is important! 😊✝️❤️🙏
