I liked the video, do you still have the knife? If so how do you like it after extended use?

Yes. I used it for awhile and had no problems. I like the ferro rod included. I also have a Moraknil knife which is not as big as the buck knife. No ferro rod with it though.

By Bianca Bharti, Postmedia News ([email protected]) nationalpost.com/news/canada/coronavirus-canada-stockpiling Health Minister Patty Hajdu is encouraging Canadians to stockpile food and medication in their homes in case they or a loved one falls ill with the novel coronavirus. That’s good advice for any potential crisis from a viral outbreak to power outages, she said Wednesday. Ms. Bharti says it is good to be prepared because things can change quickly,” she said. My own sources advise that things like hand sanitizer, toilet paper and foods with long shelf life are also in short supply. Meanwhile today Government are back peddling and saying not to stockpile. In an article by the National Post's Aileen Donnelly It is reported that In the days since Canada’s health minister encouraged people to stockpile supplies in case of a coronavirus outbreak, photos have emerged of empty shelves at stores across the country. Customers took to social media over the weekend to report shortages of hand sanitizer, toilet paper, meat, canned goods and food staples such as bread and eggs. Photos showed long lines and rows upon rows of empty shelves. And at Toronto Costco locations, employees were wiping carts with disinfectant wipes as customers entered the store.In the days since Canada’s health minister encouraged people to stockpile supplies in case of a coronavirus outbreak, photos have emerged of empty shelves at stores across the country. Photos showed long lines and rows upon rows of empty shelves. And at Toronto Costco locations, employees were wiping carts with disinfectant wipes as customers entered the store. And from Global news reporter MAHAM ABEDI globalnews.ca/news/6623400/coronavirus-stockpiling-canada/ "Advice from the health minister Last week, federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu suggested that people consider stockpiling food and medicine. “It’s really about, first of all, making sure that you do have enough supplies so if someone in your family becomes ill, if you yourself become ill, that you have what you need to survive for a week or so without going outside,” she said. Other health officials, like Ottawa Public Health’s Dr. Vera Etches, has also said staying well-supplied is good standby advice that’s always applicable - not just in this case. She said public health agencies warn all the time that people should have provisions for unexpected emergencies, including snowstorms, power outages and even possible pandemics. On its website, the Canadian government does have a list of supplies each household should have in case of an emergency. It advises that the supplies - which include two litres of water per person per day and food that doesn’t spoil easily - should be stored as an “emergency kit” in a backpack or duffle bag."

HI Regards from Colombia South America! I have mine and love it! I wish one bigger or oval shape to use two pots at same time!... I get arround 20 mintutes of good flame... but when I start to feeding more wood sticks, the stove fail... it is not easy to keep large or big flames. If I leave to the flames fade off, will be hard to relive the flames at wood feedind time, the large pieces of wood extinguish the flame. I see a layette blocked by ash too. I made mod on the layette of burn chamber just expanding the bottom layette holes to drain better the chamber from ashes. After to all this, I turn to do not use the pot stand, I think that it is better for feeding bigger wood sticks and letting better airflow. Just use a homemade grill resting on the floor. Searching wood gas and woodgas, and filtering by upload date every week I get more experiences about this stove and so I found your video. thanks for share!
@daveslifeover656 жыл бұрын
I did come across a bigger wood gas stove similar to this one. Thanks for the comment. I found the same thing with the embers building up in the bottom of the stove. I found that if you feed less wood at the beginning and then add only a few sticks as needed it works better. Also with this type of stove the wood must be very dry. I wondered if modifying the ash tray would help and your comment answered this question.
6 жыл бұрын
Certainly bigger holes works! before that mod, I had to shake all stove or give it knocks and vibration to make the ash fall. today only blows at feeding time. I see too, when feeding time starts, is very important to feed very thin branches due to its flammability and keep the flames up. other situation is that, when feeding begins, I not see a properly gasification process (woodgas through yet holes) due there is not wood under the fire. The flames come directly from the added wood and not from the stove yet holes. still learning! let me know...
@daveslifeover656 жыл бұрын
Yes that is just what happened. I think I over fed it. I am going to try again and put in less wood, but more often. Then we will see if the gasification works better.
6 жыл бұрын
I think the opposite! I mean, The full initial wood chargue burns for +- 30 minutes, it is enough for boiling... but cooking requires more time of full flame. So, one can start to feeding or just refill like other mine video. The initial chargue burns with minimal assistance from start to end... there are a lot of wood giving gas under de fire layer... it burns well by +-30 minutes. that reason i think to make "the refill" as my video shows. save the coals, wood refill, add thin branches, add saved coals to heat transfer, blow and place the pot again to continue cooking. Not use stove''s cookware stand is better for me. Homemade grill as a cookware stand and grill too. With the pot sets over grill, i can use the first big flames when thin branches starts burning. it heats better than gasification at mid time of burning... that first flames I take in advantage placing my pot from the fire beginning. Not cockware stand let me free to work so well my wood and my blower. video coming soon. Excuse my wrong english please! I am not english mother language and spoken video makes me awkward.

MrTrebor I was just back there yesterday. It took the crews over 8 hrs to clean up the mess left behind after the May 24 (we had it on the 21st this year). Toronto is full of filthy pigs that do not respect anything. The city city crews said that 4 truck loads of garbage half of which was just tossed on the ground because the citizens were too lazy to carry over to the cans. I am ashamed of my city.

@NathansFerroceriumrods16 жыл бұрын
I don't know about acetone, I use denatured alcohol.
@daveslifeover656 жыл бұрын
i was using methyl hydrate in the video. I found this table online. Alcohols (in Kj/g): Methanol (HEET): 22 "Denatured alcohol": 27 (90/10 ethanol/methanol blend) Ethanol: 28 Isopropanol: 30 (rubbing alcohol) Butanol: 35 Pentanol: 37 Hexanol: 39 Heptanol: 40 Octanol: 41 Ketones (Kj/g): Propanone: 28 (Acetone) Butanone: 31 ("Methylethylketone" or "MEK") Pentanone: 33 Hexanone: 35 Seems that Methanol (Methyl Hydrate?) has the lowest number. Interesting that rubbing alcohol is higher. Humm! Seems that plain ole rubbing alcohol burns a little hotter than Methanol, and just as hot as Acetone.
