Concerning draughtsmanship, what distinguishes the artisan from the amateur seems, in part to be internal consistency: the style of the truly great artist asserts itself at an almost fractal level, where the eye is to the face as the face is to the body, the body to the landscape, and so forth; as too in nature. Thus, details which a lesser artist might include, may be left inexplicit and inferred by the viewer; and yet there can be no doubt in his or her mind that Yoji Shinkawa is at least as much a student of anatomy as any art-school professor. I was always top of my school in art, then flunked out of a law degree and into high-end retouch, which keeps both my creative and technical demons at bay. Nevertheless, this almost inspires me to pick up where I left off.

you will never draw as good as him if you give up, good things take time, give them the time to live in your life or leave them forever, but its all up to you after all

It’s best the find your own rhythm, your own style of drawing. And soon enough, you’ll feel amazed on what you can do, and having the possibility of receiving praise Discovering a style begins your journey on top of the mountain. Practicing advances you up, it’s a long way up to the top. And it can leave marks on what you’ve been doing, but with determination and a reason to work is honestly as important as your work 😊

This is my 80-++ th time watching this video.... and have done countless studies on his technique. It's one thing if & when one can achieve his strokes, it's another to know his thought & design process.... the designs he has done on the characters, mechas, vehicles etc. Not only is he a good artist, but an amazing designer as well.

THE AMOUNT OF COPE IN THE COMMENT SECTION IS UNREAL. HE'S INSANELY TALENTED THAT'S IT. IF YOU'RE NOT TALENTED IN THE FIRST PLACE, NO AMOUNT OF PRACTICE WILL GET YOU TO HIS LEVEL. Period. If you think otherwise you're just deluding yourself into thinking you can be him and that's the truth.

It always looks like he's gone fucking crazy and starts scribbling randomly but then you see it made into this beautiful, whispy masterpiece, like it's made out of smoke. And he just does it like he's making breakfast.

Late but I guess you should try to pull up a character and draw it and understand how he uses shadows to convey emotions. My drawing has gotten extremely better due to me analyzing his technique, I've been a fan of mgs artwork since I was a kid and would do sketches in the same vein as this. You can do it, just practice alot.
