In my humble opinion. I do quite enjoy this unreleased version of the song, there are some elements that I do enjoy and some that I do not. Starting off: I think the background choir-like vocals really add to the song, in a way it brings more a sense of maximalism, the choir is strategically uplifted and toned down at the right parts of the time to bring a sense of emptiness, but at the same time brings you back to the theme of the song. Something that I do not like: The synth part (I do not know what it is called) during the "Nun a dem have di guts to rise it and spray Nun a dem have di guts to bust the SK" of the Chorus. Personally I think clashes, which can be good, but not in the right way, it makes sense thematically. And to be honest listening it back again It isn't THAT bad, it does a good job of tieing together the theme and elements of guilt trip. Another thing that I do like of the song: It is moderately more fast paced, which personally I do not think fits into the theme of the song, but also could at the same time. I like how the sample sounds more choppy. Which was probably done because of short time, but I believe it to be a nice change and feels like almost a "retro game console" A negative to the fast-pasced nature. Sound-wise, the song is excellently pieced together and eminates a wonderful taste of maximalism and industrial sounds, which I really do enjoy about this album. Although, due to the fast-paced nature of this song, there is not much build up at the beginning at the song, and it does not share the great drop as the finished/updated version of guilt trip. This Demo also does not feature that much Kid Cudi, which I think tied up the song nicely in the Finished Version. Altogether, I can say that this Demo version of Guilt Trip, is an excellent peak into the perspective of Kanye during the Thank God for Drugs Era. Thematically: 9/10. Astounding Sound-Wise: 9/10. The beat, Choir, synths. amazing. Retrospectively: 9/10
