Great demonstration, Cameron! Great work on Sumu, Randy! I often fall into the rut of using synths in the same way as I do traditional instruments. This video has me very inspired to use Sumu for textures and soundscapes.

Would be nice to see a few updates for your old plugins for example still no drag and drop sample import for Kaivo. Or a good preset browser the list goes on and on. I bought all your plugins but this time I will pass until you show some love to your old customers!

I really love this synth it's so unique & powerful I get lost for hours playing with it. But i hope that the way you import user partials can be improved, having to import the entire folder again if a new parial is saved into it from vutu. And then Vutu itself is pretty awkward importing samples to convert to partials as you are having to navigate through windows explorer back and forth from the sample location to the save section. So i have to open 2 folders in windows & copy & paste the address of the folder location each time to try & speed up the workflow. Also i can never get used to the way the dials snap to my mouse click, I wish this could be an option.

madrona labs have some amazing synths. The only reason I haven't bought in is they don't seem to offer a stand-alone version. There's probably some sensible development reasons for that...

I really enjoy using Madrona Labs devices, and I own and use several of them. However, there’s something about Sumu that I find unappealing. It seems to be related to its sound profile or character-I'm not entirely sure. The sounds it generates feel quite irritating to me. This is very strange.
@pleggli26 күн бұрын
Yeah I have installed the demo twice and uninstalled it again after not finding ways to use the sounds in a way that complements what I already have. I have found the same or other usability issues with other resynthisizing partial based software. Sumu is definitely among the most interesting ones so if you do want this sound Sumu would be a top candidate to get.

Is it possible to only output the generated wet signal result without the original source sound itself?

Thanks. I'm somewhat confused about the Pitch for the resonator. If I load a sample into the granulator that a B note, don't I have to adjust the resonator pitch to match?
@madrona-labs28 күн бұрын
Interesting question, thanks for asking. The pitch that a patch sounds like can come from the granulator, or resonator, or both. Changing the granulator frequency to change pitch is basically just making a sampler. Keeping the granulator pitch the same and changing the resonator pitch is more of a physical modeling approach. You can mix and match. -Randy

Really great sounds, and this makes it a very interesting synth for me. I do wish the retail price was a little lower for such a niche device, but I also respect the work the dev had to put into this. Ill consider it.

How is the frequency for the RES module being modulated without anything being patched to it?? 3:20 Is this patching within the DAW you're using?
@madronalabs2 ай бұрын
yes, pretty sure Sheryar is patching using Ableton Live's Configure menu here. -Randy
@0neTwo0neTwo2 ай бұрын
@@madronalabs please show us how that is done Sheryar, I been trying - can't figure it out
@madrona-labsАй бұрын
Hey Sheryar here - yes, the filter is being modulated via Ableton in this case (using automation). I have a reel on our IG that covers setting Ableton LFOs up with Sumu. If you have Sumu 1.0 you can use the new LFO functionality to add similar modulation to just about any parameter in Sumu :)
@0neTwo0neTwoАй бұрын
@@madrona-labs thanks for your explanation - I did it a different way through experimentation by using the aaltoverb on its own track with the envelope follower and sending that signal to the frequency of the RES module for Sumu on its own track via Live's device configure menu
