Never played FH but my release radar did bring me this song in 2016 and has consistently been one of my most favourite songs ever since. Always in the top listened songs eaxh year since. Somehow, someway stumbled across a new copy of SVIIB in my local record shop here in Limerick, Ireland, and was so shocked to see it. Snatched it right up. What a song, what an album and what a fucking great band. School of Seven Bells forever.

@jeremynowakowski5206 0 seconds ago Such a great song and even more meaning now since the passing of Ben. As I am just discovering now the beautiful music made.. I wish I could have known about the music then, love the music currently and wished there could have better outcomes for the future… in my eyes however seven bells lives on.. thank you for the amazing music

How could I have known the god of my youth would come crashing down on my heart? I thought that I knew love that love was a scornful thing that fed on a fading flame that held the world together for me and when it died I fell apart The day we met there was a new fire whose heart had been drowning for so long When I was dark you found a glowing ember and set my world into a blaze again How could I forget? You saw the stars in me when I had sunk into the black you never thought to leave you were the drug to bring me out from a crushing sleep you told me all you saw was diamonds you told me that till I believed The day we met there was a new fire whose heart had been drowning for so long When I was dark you found a glowing ember and set my world into a blaze again And set it all ablaze and set it all ablaze again you set it all ablaze you set it all ablaze again You set my heart ablaze you set it all ablaze again (when I was dark) you set my heart ablaze you set my heart ablaze again The day we met there was a new fire whose heart had been drowning for so long When I was dark you found a glowing ember and set my world into a blaze again

I feel like such a dingus for missing this band. I'd not heard their stuff until this morning - a friend played this song on his radio set last night and said a lot of people had asked for it. So he posted this video this morning. Ever since, I've been doing a deep dive into their music, and for the most part, I'm really loving it! RIP Benjamin Curtis, you, Alejandra, and Claudia made some beautiful music together!

I see you from far away How could you feel so close though I can't seem to reach you I hold you in my mind like the barrel of a gun waiting to join the battle Can't you see the smoke dance in the air? Signal was sent but you did not hear Race begun and you can't run your feet stuck to the floor sinking down like a nightmare Until I heard you Until I felt your hands on my skin I felt nothing I know you see me Why would you tease me? There's no game in what I'm feeling Body twists like a snake under your sun Draw me til the congregation sees god Know my kiss and you'll know this give me a chance I'll give you everything so don't second guess When I see you out I go the distance Come with me and don't try to resist this There's no potion in the world to fix me up no other magic to relieve this Until I heard you Until I felt your hands on my skin I felt nothing I know you see me Why would you tease me? There's no game in what I'm feeling Until I heard you Until I felt your hands on my skin I felt nothing I know you see me Why would you tease me? There's no game in what I'm feeling

From the band's Bandcamp page regarding SVIIB: All lyrics by Alejandra Deheza except “Music Takes Me” - lyrics by Alejandra Deheza & Claudia Deheza Some other comments incorrectly imply Ben was the sole writer of this, but I think it's beautiful that Ben produced an album of songs that Ally had written about him, which she never admitted to him, as I recall, even though surely he knew. The line "open your eyes, love" sounds out of context like it could be her singing to him in the hospital, even though all of the songs except "Confusion" were written before the diagnosis, which is a coincidence she recognized in at least one interview. Looking at the full lyrics paints an interesting picture - She's singing to someone who has a tendency to self-isolate and avoid intimacy because of unresolved betrayal from past relationships. Like with many of her lyrics, it's not totally clear how neutral she is in her motivation for calling out these behaviors, since she clearly loved him so much that she had skin in the game, wanting him to come closer and open up to her. ("Show Me Love" from Ghostory is another take on this general theme, as well as "On My Heart".) The personal stake that she has in breaking him free of these patterns ("it's getting hard to bear", "you've got me crying", "get it together") makes the song all the more human, giving a simultaneous glimpse into Ben's suffering as well as her own suffering due to the degree to which she had opened herself up to him. Her compassionate and engaging lyricism is moving beyond measure, and it gives us these precious little peeks at the sensitive and complicated souls that she and Ben are.

This song is almost magical, It makes me float, or drift from reality in a way. The melody is like dreaming wile awake? almost in a way, as though you set your alarm clock to the time you have to wake up for work and you hear it go off and you are in that stage where you are awake and know you have to get up and start your crappy day, but just lay there. and then start to drift trying to hang on to thoughts but you lose the feeling of time passing. and somewhere in the back of your mind, you are just happy being where you are.... drifting. And then the song ends.... And you jump back to this ... and realize you are an hour and a half late for work. Crap. did it again.
