Lovely video. Park Road and Woodside still very recognisable. The park has changed quite a bit. Do you know the folk in the video?

@Thegreenandwhitearmy You are quite right, I am now of the age that 10 years equals something like 10 months, time passes so quickly. However when my wife and I got married in 1967 our first home was one of those blue houses, the 8mm film clip which I shot was from my mother and fathers home at number 11 Woodside Green where I then lived, at that time I was a bachelor! Best wishes to your 'Christian Kids Club' at Ballyoran, a place I have known and loved since childhood. Jim.

@gardenhale Oh I think they were demolished a while before 2009, my friend lives on down the road a bit and we run the Christian Kids Club in Ballyoran School so I have been past here quite a bit in the past few years and never remember those blue houses.

Yes the view is towards the park gates opposite Woodside Green. The row of blue house, (called Parkmount) owend by the McGredy famly. In the early 1960's the Waugh family bought half of the row, the houses were allowed to fall into disrepair and were demolished about 2009, presently the site is derlict.

These are lovely indeed, are we looking across at the gates into the Public Park on the Garvaghy Rd here and if so, what was the blue building to the left of the gates?

You misspelled Fumika Kimura and Lesley Howie in the descriptions of both videos. Also it was a nonet they sent (you forgot about Anthony Mann on percussion). Great videos though.

@accordionflu Thanks for your kind comments. The only other old material I have on Portadown is B&W cine film of William Mullen receiving the 'Freedom of The Borough' in 1953. Also poorly shot film of Dame Deara Parker. MP at the official unveiling of a plaque marking the opening of Woodside Estate 1949/50? Also her visit to Seagoe Park and Greenview Gardens during the construction of the pre-fabs there. Hopefully I will get around to preparing these for KZbin. Jim Lyttle aka 'gardenhale'

Brings back happy memories when I was a young child I also lived in Castle Ave and remember the beautiful garden opposite the park gates. People like yourself should be commended in recording such happy times and for the rest of your professional film shorts they should be released on video as it is part of the towns history. Thus showing the positive side of hstory of Portadown. Have you anymore interesting home movies ?. EXCELLENT WELL DONE
