Making a list of general points to follow when creating a landscape design project can make the process of coming up with ideas and inspiration for the project much easier. It also eliminates the possibility of forgetting certain aspects of design and management when you essentially have a to-do list for every project. I especially liked the hide and reveal technique that was mentioned in the video. To guide the attention of the viewer from one point to another, always keeping them interested and on their toes. Also, creating a slope, a change in terrain that points downwards towards a point of attraction is a great way not only to direct water but, the people that visit the park. It is easy to walk downhill, so people walking within a park that is designed in such a way may intuitively and subconsciously be drawn to a said point of attraction.

I liked how the abandoned railways looked when they had graffiti on the walls and Mediterranean flowers growing on the rails. It was a mix of abandoned infrastructure already altered by urban explorers leaving their artistic expression onto the object, and nature sprouting to life and taking over any piece of soil that it could turn into a livable habitat. It gives a feeling of a post-apocalyptic city scape while appearing vibrant and full of color. Another interesting point was how animal and human lives intersect in the bigger parks inside the city center. It is sometimes difficult to imagine how some of these bigger animals even come to live inside these parks. Of course it is always amazing to see local parks and squares become enriched with wild life and all sorts of different animals, however some problems may arise when heavily gentrified urban centers share parts of the city with wild animals. Wild animals may start to look for easier and more abundant sources of food in the city. That may come in the form of going through trashcans to find leftovers of food. This sight of animals rummaging through trash is uninviting and may be a hard problem to solve for the city. Even if that problem is solved and the animals stay within the boundaries of the park, some people passing by the park may try to feed wild animals. Sometimes people might try to feed processed food to the animals, which in turn, might make them sick, because these foods are not meant to be eaten by animals and the animals may not be used to it. Such problems may skew the habitat of the animals and the ways in which they behave. Some problems might need to be solved in the cities before we invite wildlife into them and have a Disney movie-like experience where people and animals live together as friends. I found it interesting that the french landscape team decided to create a park that was highly geometrical to contrast the very soft natural shapes created by natural forests. The last couple of projects were short and simple in execution and maintenance. Great ideas

I wish we had green roofs in Los Angeles. We have huge amounts of flat roofs. There are loads of shallow-root native plants that have evolved here to thrive in the climate and which would be hugely beneficial to wildlife. We have high cooling costs in summer and terrible air quality that green roofs would help counteract. I'm not sure what the hold-up is -- ignorance? Most people in Southern California have never seen a green roof. I also brought it up at a talk about the loss of green cover resulting from people here replacing small homes with McMansions and someone yelled at me that we can't have green roofs because we have wildfires here. I'm not sure what one has to do with the other. It's not as though Southern California lawns are regularly bursting into flame -- so why would sedum on top of a roof? Someone else complained about the water shortage. But why would native plants require more water than our fallow, green lawns or swimming pools?

I enjoyed watching this very much. I love learning about what fits in a landscape and why you would add or not add things to a landscape. Watched it at 1.25 speed which made it a bit more dynamic.

Zach J Cross Hi Zach, that is Swedish landscape architect Thorbjörn Andersson. You can watch the discussion between the two gentlemen that followed this lecture on our KZbin channel as well. We are also glad that we can feature a number of his projects on Landezine. Andersson will give a public lecture in Ljubljana on May 7th 2019 if you're around ;-) ... organized by Landezine. Cheers!

Tom is a classic Narcissist with no conscience, who fires employees for no cause, with no severence, often women and most vulnerable, has a large staff often with not a single woman, cannot tolerate criticism, but that is what makes New York function - psychopaths. His claim that is fighting for 'silent' New Yorkers its not true! He has total distain for anyone but the powerful and elite, is close friends with other Psychopaths like himself Donald Trump. Great actor, as psychopaths always are. As brutal and oppressive as it gets in managing his office.
