My problem is that it’s so cold in the bathroom. Cold air just pouring in all day and night makes our whole bathroom freezing cold. Is there a fix for that? I can hear the flap also.

What was the measurement of the screen you took out from corner to corner diagonally? I really need to know. Can’t find the right size.

If you put duct tape down the top and the bottom you don't have to take it all apart

This looks like a good fix at the bathroom fan level. The real culprit however, is the vent damper on your roof. High winds will lift the roof vent damper enough to allow air flow down the vent tube and make your bathroom vent flapper go crazy making noise. If you eliminate the problem at the roof level, you do not need to pad the flapper in your bathroom vent. In your case, you still have the issue of air coming down through the vent tube, but you've added padding to eliminate the noise at the bathroom fan level. That's probably the easiest fix for most. FIxing the problem at the roof level is far more difficult depending on your type of roof. In my case, I would need to hire a roofer to install new roof vents or to apply a workaround. For anyone interested you can either find a better roof vent that won't allow air to easily lift the roof damper OR you can keep your existing roof vent and attach some magnetic strips or glue some washers to the top of the roof vent damper to add enough additional weight so the wind won't lift the roof damper up but still allows the roof damper to open when the bath vent is on. You'll need to be able to communicate with whoever is on the roof so you can test the fan to see that whatever additional weight you applied will still allow the roof damper to open. I'm currently 3 years into a new build with noise from 3 different fans and I'm still deciding which way to fix this. Thanks for your good video as it is certainly an option.

There is no "roof flapper"......
@MichaelBarbee-u6k
@MichaelBarbee-u6k 19 күн бұрын
@@ShowPhil Perhaps I should have used the word "damper" as it relates to the roof vent. It's a thin piece of metal that opens and closes the duct according to incoming or outgoing air flow. You can google roof jacks or bathroom roof vents. If the roof damper can be kept from being lifted up by the wind, there will be no airflow reaching the bathroom level below to make the flapper go crazy.

Thank you so much for creating this video. We took our 2016 ford focus to the shop for a tune up. Minutes later, we received a call asking if we had a problem opening the hood. They stated that they tried everything. We came home and stumpled on your video. We watched the video multiple times and then went to work. We were running around happy with amazement!!! When we heard that clicking sound coming from the hood.! Thank you again. 😀

My unit has the exact same issue, I googled the problem and sure enough many people with the exact same unit have the same problem. I didn't have any foam so I used rubber drawer bumpers instead. It's still audible but I can no longer hear it from my desk even with the door open. Also funnily enough presumably my dad already tried weighing it down with a screw when he installed the unit around 15 years ago. Thanks

Nice one mate .. I beached our 50 Suburban on a highway after the lines blew out at the front, (fully loaded and towing a caravan). I got home by jacking it up and wedging blocks of wood below the chassis and lower arm. Been racking my brain about bump stops and came across this 👍👍 cheers 👍👍

UPDATE: I DID IT! Thats the first time I have ever done anything like this, i always thought myself to be a bit lacking in technical skills with vehicles and audio systems, but your video helped GREATLY, and helped give a complete newb confidence to do it! One thing Id like to let users in UK and possibly EU all together the radio system is the same HOWEVER the build is different, therefore, ONLY the vents and casing on front will come off when you pry it off, the radio will be screwed into a mount that is actually built into the dash itself, but the only difference is that once you unscrew the hex bolts loose, the radio itself will come out so there will be no need for needlenose plyers as the radio is not attached to the vents and faceplates. Other than that it was exactly as you stated every step, you guys are a huge help and thank you for giving me the confidence to do this myself, saved me almost 1000 off quotes I was given online from Fiat/Jeep dealerships!
