@@chrisferris3303 heck yeah man! Can't wait to check em out (: I've been getting into building myself and I'm just eating up all the content I can and absorbing all the information possible (:

How does it sounds like? Can you make another video?

Why is it amazing? The best speakers are made in Europe. Average price 15,000 Eurpes each. Amplifier 45,00.00 Europs.

awesome build! that amp unit is dope. the 500hz is probably cabinet resonance. even if you used a crossover, it would still be there. if the foam is the only material in there, it's probably way underdamped. i suspect you would get a tighter sound if you stuffed it with rockwool.

Good stuff. Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching.

Seriously don't build a speaker like this. You can't use a generic crossover. It doesn't work that way.

Why do you think the Klipsch is better? do you think maybe it's due to the amp or the woofer? your box looks amazingly done. so I doubt its the box.
@chrisferris3303Ай бұрын
That Klipsch sub is an absolute monster. Perfect combo of cost effective materials and design. The big thing I notice between the 2 is the klipsch’s ability to deliver transient material. It’s really quick if that makes sense. So yeah I think that motor and amp combo are a perfect pairing.
@user-pp6jd6qj4xАй бұрын
So what makes this a reference quality, I am confused. Go back to school. You obviously have no clue how to design a transmission line, this is a box with some planks in it.

Hi I buy the same bash but sound low vol Maybe i need new av receiver?? The receiver i use is old and maybe 25w or the woofer box is small And how set phase and freq?? Thanks
@chrisferris3303Ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. My guess is it has something to do with the driver in the sub or the cabinet. The receiver will have control’s for the bass management but shouldn’t be the cause of a low output unless it’s turned down on the receiver end. Try connecting it to your phone or CD player directly. If you can get more volume out of it then it could be setting issues on the receiver.
@brianking92862 ай бұрын
Cosmetically they look very nice. The coice of drivers is good, although they may or may not be compatible with each other. The design electrically? Not so much. The conection of the woofers should be a parallel connection yelding a net of 4 ohms nominal. Using a generic off-the shelf crossover is universally shunned by experienced speaker designers. Speaker impedance varies with frequency. It's not constant and that's the assumption with a generic crossover. A real crossover is designed considering the total frequency and impedance response of the woofers and tweeter over a wide frequency range.

So how does the port work? It seems like the loading chamber is ported into another loading chamber and then ported to the outside through the visible 'port hole'... Not sure of the design or how any of this actually works, never seen a box designed so oddly. Looks like it was just thrown together and I dont know how you made the design or even tuned it.
@chrisferris3303Ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. Take a look at some of the PMC speakers transmission lines and you’ll see where I was going. We did the math on the 1/4 and 1/2 wavelengths of some of the bottom end frequencies and compromised on a line that gave the speaker a nice low end growl.

Thanks Chris, Do you think can I change the RS180S-8 in replacement of RS150-4? And what else about the crossover? This because at this time it’s no longer available the components on Amazon that it’s the most cost effective way to bring to Colombia.

Wood glue and water works for a lot of stuff, most of all it’s really good as a bonding layer, especially between incompatible chemicals. I’ve used wood glue as a primer to spray paint polystyrene foam with solvent heavy polyurethane spray paint. The trick when adding water is remember a little bit of water goes a long way, and that it’s difficult to be consistent with it. I use an empty inkjet refill syringe to test the thickness of it. If the blunt needle can suck it up then it’s thin enough, if it can’t then I add more water. I add just enough so that it can draw, not a drop more.

Nice build. Do you account for the foam in your enclosure volume?
@chrisferris33034 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. I did not account for the foam but I’ve wondered the same thing. I could be wrong but as the foam isn’t dense enough to affect the lower frequencies I’d imagine it’s all good.
Отлично сделанное видео. Музыка, свет, картинка и режиссура на высочайшем уровне. Спасибо!

@@chrisferris3303 so why does an engl cabinet sound so much different? There is a yt video on a bunch of different cabs with the same speakers but the slanted engl cab sounds way different. They use 14 ply birch. Could I expect the same sound if I used thick birch and copied their dimensions? Or is there more to it?
@chrisferris33034 ай бұрын
Not much more to it than that! Cab design and speaker selection. Good luck with the build it’ll totally be worth it!
