The doctor also said that this could have been from an injury I had when I was 5 as i fell down the stairs and split my head on a radiator as I landed. Exactly. I don't how anyone can claim to be a genuine retrogamer and yet not be familiar with the bog standard Genesis controller. There are dozens of 1:1 replicas of the original release available today, leaving no doubt as to how well regarded they still are. Even when emulating, you have to assign buttons to keys or joypad, so I don't know how that happened without registering that there are at least three separate fire buttons. You don't even need to be aware of the classic controller's design. I take it the Mega Drive wasn't one of the consoles that saved her life. You can't underestimate the influence of the Genesis. You'd have to be born yesterday or know nothing about the history of gaming to dismiss it so readily.

As I pointed out in another reply, Lady Decade and Top Hat Gaming Man opt-in to the 'allow remixes' scheme, as I do. I know for a fact that they appreciate any attention, positive or negative, because it feeds the algorithm and their bottom line. Keep in mind that a lot of copyright protected content is used on KZbin with the owner's permission, any ad revenue generated being redirected to the original producer. For example, many of my mash-ups have been flagged as containing segments from big budget movies etc. KZbin identifies them, yet grants permission for the video to remain online because that is the approach Warner Bros. (or whoever) have decided to take. It makes no difference to me since my channel is in no way monetised. I believe this was the pivotal factor in Martin McNeil's decision to claim damages against Top Hat Gaming Man for using his Ray Harryhausen photograph without permission. Martin was outraged because Richard and his wife were indirectly profiting at the expense of his livelihood. There was a principle at stake. I doubt he would have reacted the same way if a not-for-profit hobby channel was found to be behaving in exactly the same manner.

If someone online wanted to use segments of my book for wherever educational purposes, as long as I was credited, I probably wouldn't mind, even if negative coverage as all publicity is useful. I did a double-take at that at first too, but I think what it is, she's playing the game on her laptop while the 'dead' GPU was installed in her desktop video editing system. It's all nonsense anyway because you don't need a fancy dedicated GPU to do basic video editing. If that's knackered you can typically fall back on an integrated chip and get by unless you intend to play modern games. Then of course there's the laptop option for video editing and music recording so it's hardly life or death critical. It comes down to liking nice toys and not wanting to compromise, assuming someone else foots the bill.
