What do you mean when you said that you ":purged the bottle a couple of times"?
@flyingtigre12392 күн бұрын
No. Not white tape but yellow tape is used for gas. White is for water pipes. I think for safety you’d want one tank turned on at a time, less dangerous. 20lb tanks with 4-1/2 lbs of propane. Depending on settings low lasts for hours I use it in my camper during freezing snow mountains and love this thing.

I have refilled for years. BUT what I need is the hose/valve that you have. Where can I get one ?
@sarahmorrill7 күн бұрын
Refilling these disposable canisters over a period of five years, 20% will fail, that is, they'll leak. Usually, they start to leak just after you fill them. But not always. Some start leaking when inside the Buddy Heater. If the Buddy Heater is on when this happens, it will explode in a ball of fire. What are the chances this will happen? Less than 0.3%. If you are comfortable with those odds, go for it. I myself would rather spend some bucks on canisters that are designed to be refilled. I take risks in my life but first I weigh the cost and the consequences. For me, the fact that I most likely won't end up in a hospital's burn unit if I refill disposable canisters just isn't good enough.

The standard 1 lb. propane tanks like the Coleman non-refillable tanks can be refilled but it is against DOT laws to refill them and transport them. Read the label on every 1 lb. tank. I have had an adapter to refill 1 lb. propane tanks for over 30 years. And if you refill the Coleman 1 lb. tanks at the campground and don't transport them refilled, you haven't broke any DOT laws. But to be safer and be by the law, I just bought 2 Mr Heater refillable propane tanks. I bought them from Walmart, the Mr Heater Fuel Keg for $18.98 and their refill kit for $29.98. One of the things I really like about the kit is the plastic stands it comes with. I plan to take the refill kit with me when I camp. I think 2 refillable bottles will be enough.

I owned an automotive air conditioning and radiator repair shop for 30 years. Refrigerants came in metal containers and had Pressure according to Temperature. 20 lb Propane Tank .txt =============================================================================== BBQ 20 lb Propane Tanks: ======================== ** Tanks that hold propane are not filled up all the way with liquid propane to give an area for expansion (80% full). ** The BBQ propane tanks can have about 20 lbs of liquid propane in them and above the liquid propane there is propane in a vapor state (no air). ** The pressure in a propane tank changes according to its temperature and how pure the propane is. One lb of propane in a tank or 20 lbs in the tank will have same pressure if at the same temperature. ---------------------------------------------- ** Example of Pressure-Temperature data for propane (approximate): Temp. Pressure ==================== -40°F 3.6 psi 00°F 28 psi 20°F 47 psi 30°F 58 psi 40°F 72 psi 50°F 86 psi 60°F 102 psi 70°F 127 psi 80°F 140 psi 90°F 165 psi 100°F 196 psi 110°F 220 psi NOTE: There would be a temperature at which liquid propane could be held in a open container and not gas off. With water we call this the boiling point 212°F. ** 20 pound propane tanks are often referred to as grill cylinders and hold 4.6 gallons of propane when filled to limit. ** One gallon of propane weighs 4.2 lbs. ** 4.6 gal x (4.2 lbs./gal) = 19.32 lbs HOW TO CHECK LEVEL OF PROPANE IN A TANK: ======================================== (1.) Weigh the propane tank and subtract the Tank Weight (AKA Tare Weight). ** A full 20 lb propane tank weighs about 37 lbs, because the empty tank weighs around 17 lbs., the remaining 20 lbs is the propane weight. ** Look at top lip of propane tank to find its empty weight, look for the TW weight (AKA Tare Weight). (2.) Slowly pour hot water on the top edge of tank and let it flow down the side of the tank. Then you can feel where the temperature changes from warm, this is the level of liquid propane in the tank. =============================================================================== end

keeping the tanks indoors is not a problem at all i have a few 100lb tanks indoor the danger is simple and very avoidable first off propane don't just blow up it like any other fuel source has to reach a magic blending number of air to fuel ration 3.8-8.4 i think may not be exact but is defiantly within the range of magic McBroom point being the benefit of storing a tank inside is that it wont freeze and lose performance and stop the process of phase change from liquid to gas is quite cold and if outside in freezing weather where its already cold below freezing is the performance (FLOW) will decrease drastically what the danger is when your smart and get your tanks like shown 20lb cylinders filled they are actually full (20lbs of propane 4.3 gallons I believe ) filling is best to be cold tank old also and then filled to hold the most is that when they warm up to room temp full the over pressure valve will pop and piss out propane wherever they are sitting the very simple way to prevent this is hook it up immediately and use to prevent over pressure from the expansion of propane based on temp not complicated at least I don't think so one but if unaware or wanting to be cautious a swapped 20lb grill style cylinder at the local store is only filled to 75% to leave room for expansion in summer heat and winter temps or up and down filled tanks have little to NO expansion buffer a swapped cylinder more expensive has a 25% buffer its a DOT REG and its not only more expensive you get 15lbs in a 20lb tank so if your not a fucking moron get them filled and immediately start using or store outside but if used immediately there is no problem even when a 100lb tank decided to pop off and vent in my house that's not the real danger its venting that makes the mix (MAGIC RATIO) and as that happens is the most dangerous ask me how I know a foom filled with propane above 8.5% or greater will lead to suffocation at best not from an explosion

@benjamincresswell37134 ай бұрын
Eric, I have read many of your comments, and would like to add just a couple. #1). Check DOT laws befor moving them. Somewhere I read that DOT says you may not transport a refilled disposable tank. #2). There is dirt in the larger tanks and when you turn the big tank upside down to get the liquid to flow, the dirt gets into the small tank. I don't know how it gets into the orifice of the appliance but it does. I've had to clean it out a several times. Somewhere I heard of an inline filter, so be aware. #3). When you overfill the small tank, you can get into a hydraulic pressure issue. The relief valve is meant to vent gas not liquid, so keep in a ventilated area at least until you know it's not overfilled. #4). When overfilled I have trouble with some appliances. The liquid gets into the needle valves and cools it right down which shrinks it and slows the delivery. Then if I open it more I get a huge surge of gas and the flames go over a foot high. #5). I refill for $ savings. So I check around and find the lowest price place. I usually get my 20 Lb tanks refilled at a hardware store where they give me the full amount. Blue Rhino only gives you 15 Lbs, but the tank can hold 20#. That's a 25% savings right there. Then, if you can get the 20 Lbs for 20$, you can fill the little cans for $1 each. Even at Walmart the 1 pound disposable is over $5 apiece. And finally, I just put my 1 pounder on the 20 and invert it for over night. The next day it's always overfull, but I know it is and I deal with it as such. I have seen where some guys will let out a little gas to cool the tank off, which allows more liquid to enter, I just don't like wasting the gas letting it out to reduce the pressure either during filling or when I get around to using it. I use a 1 pound tank every day to cook with, so I'm not just shooting my mouth off. OK, Fine Business, just be smart about it. ben/ michigan

Wouldn't the fenix lr60r be a better choice? It's like combining 2 flashlights into 1. I looked at the acebeam x75 and acebeam k75 models. One is the king in wide angle and the other is the king in long throw. Then I saw the fenix lr60r model. It has both wide angle and long throw and can give both at the same time. For this reason, wouldn't the lr60r, which offers these 2 functions together, make more sense? Compared to the x75, k75 and l80r models.
