Many thanks for sharing this video. I use a Futaba 9c super for all my planes, but just recently I've bought a Great Planes Avistar Elite which I'm setting up with flap servos. But low and behold I have in the cupboard a brand new never used Futaba 7c. So tonight I've unboxed it and I've followed your instructions on how to set up the flaps on the Futaba 7c. Thanks again, this was marvelous .

This is such a valuable resource! I searched all over to try to find how to activate the Xbox channels and wasn't having any luck till if found this and then all the other settings fit my warbird to a tee! Thanks Lenny.

If you've got chunky hands a pair of tweezers from the missus makeup drawer helps you pull up the lines.

Does the peel ply need to be fully wetted with epoxy as well? or are dry looking ptches not important?
@lennyrobert2 жыл бұрын
Robert, It will soak up any excess epoxy but there may be a place or two that looks dry. Just keep using your squeegee to try and get those places worked in well. Hope this helps.

Hi there; Can You tell me how to connect my Futaba 7C FASST to my Pc. Thanks
@gboy12983 жыл бұрын
They sell rollers made for applying resin and another for rolling out bubbles. Works well at rolling out fiberglass onto wing while use it roller to smooth out as you go.

Hey Lenny, I’m going to use the same receiver in my Top Flight P47 and curious to know what batteries you have hooked up for the P51
@lennyrobert3 жыл бұрын
David, I use the Spektrum 3000 mah 2S Life batteries for the receiver and the Spektrum 2200 mah 2S Life for the ignition. I use this setup in my Hellcat, Pitts S2B and I will use it in my 1/5th Bates P-51B as well.
@Davebuoyful3 жыл бұрын
@@lennyrobert thanks for that Lenny. So I guess you are only using the 1 batt on the receiver then
@lennyrobert3 жыл бұрын
@@Davebuoyful Nope, I use 2 for the receiver and 1 for the ignition.

A good video Lenny. Although my Tx is a JR 11X, I am going to use the 12310T receiver in my TF P47. Your video is so helpful in that it is pointing me in the right direction so I know what sort of functions I’m looking for. Cheers Dave

Hey Lenny, how do I set up a 20 channel receiver to the DX18 to accept 4 flap servos, 2 servos per wing. Thanks. Chic
@lennyrobert3 жыл бұрын
Chic, Sorry for the delayed response. You would do that under Aircraft Type then under wing type. You would want to select the wing with 2 ail and 2 flaps or whatever config they have for a 4 surface selection. I did this for my Pitts because it has 4 ail servos. Hope this helps.

I have the same radio and am trying to set up the flaps as you are doing. However, friends have said that I should use 2 y-harnesses. One for the ailerons and one for the flaps. I have the ailerons connected to channel 1 and the flaps on channel 5? This seems incorrect. I tried following your video steps, but it doesn't work correctly. Can you provide info on how you have your ailerons and flaps set up as far as channels and if you use Y harnesses? Thanks
@lennyrobert4 жыл бұрын
Jeff, Sorry for the super late response. i built the plane with seperate servos for each aileron and seperate servos for flaps as well. I'm pretty sure I had the flaps on a Y harness. After watching the video again I know I had the flaps on CH6.. It probably has something to do with your Y harness set up on CH1. Read the insturction manual for the 7C again and see what they say about CH1/7, it might help you figure it out. I've switched to Spektrum a few years ago and I can't remember the Futaba setup that well. Maybe try posting your question on RCUniverse or RCScaleBuilder. Hopefully this is a little help to get you up and running. Take care.

Lenny, awesome looking airplane. I have 5 warbirds in the Tuskegee Airmen scheme glad to see one in a Col. Lee Archer Jr. scheme. 👍🏼

Thanks Gordon. Unfortunately that one didn't have a very long life. I liked the scheme so much that I'm building another one in 1/5th scale. Jerry Bates with a Vic fiberglass fuse.

After more than 12 years I'm finally sitting down to finish my model! I have the 60 Gold Edition (www.top-flite.com/airplanes/topa0110.html). I glued the stab and am gluing the tail fin however I have a gap under the fin. I combed the directions and plans but cannot figure out how I missed that. In the directions there magically appears some tapered block that is slotted for the elevator copper torque rod. The fin sheeting should come down further to meet with the stabilizer too. I will just figure something out but I wonder if you found this problem too. At 3:10 in your video you show a thick horizontal balsa piece under the fin. Where the blazes does that show up in the plans?? Oh and nice work on the build! I am getting the Robart 653L and 653R retracts for the mains and was trying to find retracts for the tail wheel. I wonder if Robart ROB121 will work?
