Matt, curious if you have any thoughts about coming back with only 751 bacterial strains on your Ombre test when lots of other online folks come back with 20,000-40,000 strains plus? I myself tested with numbers similar to yours in a recent test from a few months ago, and have been struggling with some pretty intense weight loss as of late.

As in you are losing weight intensely or you are struggling to lose weight? Ombre test for 10,000+ strains but only flag ones where the result is statistically significant. The day after this video they gave me access to "premium" which dove a lot deeper into the results. So they flag results that are stat sig, and results where you are lacking that should have had a stat sig result if that makes sense?

@@AdventuresWithQuinn I have been losing weight unintentionally. I have chronic Lyme Disease, which I have had for about 17 years or so. Was treated for about 13 months with varied antibiotics. I have been taking a dietary clay to keep my residual symptoms at bay for several years, which has worked and my weight was pretty stable until about 6 months ago. I think what also has happened is I have broomed out my intestinal microbiota to a large extent. That's my current theory and just finding that my Ombre results were similar to yours in bacterial strains detected.

@@seanhenderson6285 Oh boy Yeah I know a single course of antibiotics can kill off a commensal let alone 13 months! Actions I have taken since these results: Take akkermansia probiotic Take general probiotic Eat 3 cups of an l-reuteri & l-gasseri yogurt I culture a week Stopped all artificial sweeteners (mostly from diet coke) Upped resistant starch from potatoes & inulin (either in a chocolate pudding I make or asparagus) Take red phenols and HMOs twice a week I also added NDT (thyroid - but this was for something else) Added methylated b vitamins (I discovered I have a double MTHFR mutation) Will retest in 45 days - can say for the first time in a long time, hunger feels very controlled when not surrounded by indulgent foods, and energy feels reallllly good. Are you warm? Is your stool noticeably heavy or overly regular (like IBS symptoms)?

@@AdventuresWithQuinn Yes, I'm taking Pendulum Akkermansia probiotic as well as Kefir Labs Probiotic shots which have the two strains of bacteria that you mentioned in it in addition to about 30 others. I also am taking Megaspore probiotic as well as Equlibrium probiotic. My stools have been generally consistent and most are 3's and 4's on the Bristol Stool Chart, except that I have not produced brown stools in many years. They have always been green since. Obviously my bile reduction capacities are way off amongst other things. Am starting to seriously consider fecal microbial transplant followed by more gut testing to see if can get several species to recolonize.

Thank you for posting this. PUFAs and how they absolutely contribute to weight gain and maintenance is a passion of mine in physiology. This has helped a mega amount in getting somewhere. I know that there is a mechanism in how PUFA causes mitochondrial dysfunction and that this HAS to contribute to weight gain and maint as well. The dysfunction of this points to heart disease and diabetes. This is so complex that it is a difficult sell to the general population. Your summary is great. I will keep working on my end too and hope some day that this is very common knowledge.

If the goal is the truth - a squirrelled away live debate on a private discord is unproductive. I am however open to reading and responding to any written rebuttal. It should be a red flag if anyone is not open to a written and specific challenge whether discussing the albedo effect in climate or the role of LA in obesity.

The one from 2021? Others already have. Will take another look at the adiposity section, but other than this person's followers - the opinion that they operate in good faith is not greatly held. This could very much be a huge distraction from a real and pressing issue.

18:53 gluten-issues is often just a misnomer for not being able to handle certain foods or their ingredients. Eg they can't handle oat milk or croissants but they do fine if on home made bread, because there you don't bother mixing in all the additives the industry uses. But additive-intolerance isn't a thing and gluten is, so gluten became a sort of scapegoat.

@@AdventuresWithQuinn you want me to cite a study about laypeople's incorrect assumptions on what's the actual cause of an intolerance? It's in response to your anecdote of someone claiming asymptomatic gluten intolerance where cutting out french fries was their most impactful dietary change.

I really relate to that sense of feeling crazy for everyone else just continuing on with the status quo. There are so many times I hit that point, and it's not just the obesity epidemic. The early onset of menstruation is another one where it's, like, "C'mon people? Something is really wrong here, right? We're messing with the reproductive health of our species and our plan is...?"

Healthcare is so silo'd that it's up to the individual to address. In my experience, if someone doesn't call you crazy, you're not pushing hard enough.
