Your videos have helped me a lot, especially with directing my limited focus to the end of my turns (to think about finishing the J shape rather than the entire S), and I've found your instruction straightforward to understand and novel in its framing of advice/lessons both old and new. In this video specifically, I want to ask about the lead change you mention at the end. Is this something you're mentioning as something we should aim for, or just pointing out as an indication of our ski/edge change? I'm curious since I've seen elsewhere that an inside ski tip lead should be minimized.

I point it out as something you do on the flats with a knee ankle roll. However on a pitch or with increased speed it should be minimized

They all ski narrow short skis and on piste mostly as the piste is so good. Even the tourists get put on rental slalom skis and a lot can't carve anyway. But that's still easier than wider and longer to pivot on and race skis look cooler than narrower all mountains so...... So a 75 vs mid 80s doesn't change much really, just radius. But you are right, if you like offpiste and wider, it's fairly unlimited. Surprised you hadn't seen a Ski Mojo before?

Ischgl is great, like it so much more than Solden. Solden is actually a pretty big ski area but the layout is not great, so many people get funnelled into a few runs like pistes 1 and 30. Palinkopf in Ischgl often has the best snow and blacks 21 and 22 are super fun! And the final pitch back into town brings back so many memories! Absolute shitshow after 4pm and there will be a bunch of people from the bar cheering on those who struggle to get down, absolutely nuts!

Do u actively extend your outside leg i apex to build pressure / move COM further inside? Or do you just let the pressure build up by itself?

This was the first year I’ve ever experienced big crowds in Austria. I ski there exclusively (Austrian fam). The conditions were terrible this season. So people relocated to higher resorts and hence the crowds. Experienced the same craziness the other week - was in saalbach; too warm so then did a day in Kitzsteinhorn glacier which was super busy as everyone else had same idea. Saw the last WC Super G of season that week. So not all bad.

What would you recommend for edge angles for all mountain focused skis? I’m using a 1 degree base bevel and a 3 on the side but I don’t feel like the edges are digging in enough to inspire confidence. Should I change it to a 0.75 or maybe a 0.5? Thanks.

.5 is usually reserved for SL racers. I would try the .75

I just bought my second pair, 2024 model in 173cm. My first pair was the 2022 model in 180cm. It’s too bad they are discontinued after this season 😢

Question: If there is no accentuated rolling and (as I would interprete) in result no early pressure on the new outside ski, how do you manage to get the pressure later in the turn? Do you built up a "landing-platform" in direction of the apex of the turn? Is it correct to think of trying to move to a "line" instead of concentrating on the transition - as you explained in the video "Keep your feet underneath you"...??? Looking forward to your answer 😉

I simply push to the outside of the trail. By remaining balanced the load on the outside ski increases as I come across the hill due to the increase in resistance to gravity
