Compliant partners, instructor's balance is a mess, arrogant swagger. A middle school wrestler would destroy you all without breaking a sweat. Beautiful dancing though.

Thanks for sharing your vision. I confess that it's a bit fascinating to me to read this kind of comment because I really don't see the point, apart from nourishing your ego and feeling superior ("I know better, I kick asses...." and that kind of non sense), and then you talk about "Arrogant swagger"... It's kind of funny. and ironic, don't you think? Anyway, follow your path, and don't waste your time if you don't see anything valuable here. Just a thought for the road: when you see someone, in any art (martial or not), who has been working daily for 35 years, he most probably has something valuable to show, whether you see it or not. And in any case, it's okay

@@YvesTocquer Do not advertise it as a martial art and my comment will become unnecessary. Advertise it as a spiritual dance and I will support it. This has nothing to do with my ego, it has to do with lying to others and lying to one's self about what one is doing. Imagine how many people have been injured or killed trying to utilize this against a real threat. False security is dangerous and your irresponsibility with it is about YOUR delusional ego. Cheers.

@@user-ii8xy2qb6h Well, I'm pretty sure Aikido is well known as a martial art around the globe; maybe you should check it out. My intention was only to share an old footage for people who know and appreciate this art with one of the great Sensei of Hombu Dojo. I am really surprised to trigger such a violent and disrespectful reaction from someone who most probably has never practiced this art. But it's okay; everyone is entitled to share the content of what happens in their heads. By the way, the justification that you comment to avoid people being killed or injured... well...please... it's kind of ridiculous. .

I was in his class in the same room back in 1986. It took me thirty years to understand his movement. I don't think any video do justice to his fluid movement. Thank you for the video, it brought back memory.

Cool!! It's an honor to have you comment here Sensei.🙏 If I'm right you used to practice with Didier Boyer while in Japan. He talked about these moments with Shibata Sensei when he visited us in Brazil in 2018. I've posted a short video of him during this visit.

Who attacks you like that 😂 ? what about a left hook, followed by a right elbow and low kick, and clinch with some knees ?? This aikido looks awesome it really does, but in a street fight it will not work 😂😂

Hi there my friend, thanks for your comment, I understand your doubt, it's quite frequent in fact. I think the first thing you have to understand is the diference between an aplication (in a "fight") and a study. In this case the Sensei is showing a step by step of a basic attack, with a basic response. It's not an application, the goal is to understand the right distance, the right angle, the rignt motion... maintaining the structure, the balance; breaking uke stance... it's a study, so it might be slow and it's a very limited framework. You know, it's a bit like seeing MikeTyson hitting a sandbag and saying "ridiculous!!! nobody has ever been attacked by a sandbag!!" In my opinion, the question of the efficience of any martial art in a "real" situation is more about the practitioner than about the art in itself. Aikido gives you valuable tools, people might be able to use them or not of course If you are realy interested in understanding more, well study more... go in an Aikido Dojo and try Now if you already have your ideal martial art that works well for you, don't waste your time with it and study more of what you do, I'm sure it's valuable.
