That was a pleasure I am a 60 yr old beginner carver and I am impressed with you dexterity your blade if I were a better artist it might come easier but nothing beats repetition and persistent .I am at this point still trying to carve my first head that looks like a head lol. Thanks for the video. Ps.5 comments only I wish I could do more.

I thought I just did - and old crusty Marine! Actually, I was in the middle of one (WWII or Korean War), but I haven't finished it. I got it buried somewhere.

Having watched this, seems to be a lot of these guy's n' girl's cutting and flicking the blade ??? Are there two different schools of thought on this, your carvers are doing it but there's some that say you shouldn't 🤔 as it messes up your blade 😉. Would be interested to know what you think 🤔. Cheers Les. Uk 🇬🇧.

Great videos but one suggestion, you should move the camera to the side so we can see what you are doing. Your carving hand is covering most of what you are actually doing. Keep posting!

First, thanks for this 3-part tutorial on faces. I’ll probably need to spend at least. Month on each video. As a beginner carver, one of my nagging problems is little strings of wood along the sides of the nose. And the more I try to clean them up, the worse they get. I think I cause them when I make a cut with the knife tip too close to the edge of the nose. So I marvel at how your knife tip repeatedly disappears into the wood along the nose, a big chip flies off, and there are none of those nasty strings. Any tips on how I can avoid making those strings? Thank you.

Applaud the attempts to get close to the action of carving but more attention needs to be given to make sure the carving is actually in the frame. Hard to tell what it is your doing when one can't see what it is your doing. Don't take this as negative criticism but a suggestion to make your videos much better. Love the bust face practice series. Would like to see more of them. Kudos on this series.
