I hadn't seen that Nemeckek, and Stewart deal from Kansas until now. With everything Tony caused through the season up until that point. I was laughing my ass off when I had seen that part😂

I was working for that team that day and I can tell you exactly what happened. This is what happens when emotions get involved in a deal. It was a fairly low money sponsorship deal so we couldn’t risk taking a super nice truck and it was originally going to be a run one set of tires off and go home. But the truck was pretty quick in practice so all of a sudden the decision was made to throw the kitchen sink at it. We only had a couple of guys there that actually knew how to work on these things….again it was just supposed to be qualify, run a set of tires off and go home. But now we are slinging springs and shocks at it, installing bigger brake ducts and blowers, shut that takes days at a shop with the right tools but trying to do it in a couple of hours with nothing at the track. I got the springs and shocks done and was setting the front bar. Once the bar was set I slid the bolt in the adjuster and ran the nut up on it when one of our volunteer guys came running up yelling about something was wrong with a wheel we had sent to Goodyear to get the extra tires mounted. That turned into an hour long fiasco and when I got back they were already pushing the truck through tech. Being completely mind fucked by this time I had long forgotten about the away bar end bolt not being tightened. When Dillon rolled out for qualifying I saw something roll out behind the truck…..it was the nut for the bar end bolt. I said to myself……well this should be interesting. Dillon Oliver is one of the greatest drivers I have ever worked with. Most anyone else would have wadded that truck up. He held it together, put it in the show, then ran the entire race only loosing 2 laps I believe and barely put a scratch on it. Just phenomenal.

Somehow this wasn't the slowest truck in qualifying. Also went on to actually run the whole race, which is a miracle in itself

Chris Lafferty the field filler finds a random driver and bolts together something from parts found in dumpsters/the tip and it drifts for 2 laps. That "team" entered 40 races and only ever finished above 25th once and that was in a wreckfest. Drivers include Chris himself, Mike Harmon, Russ Dugger, Richard Johns, Ryan Seaman, Nick Tucker, Trevor Boys, Wes Burton, Jason Cochran, Dillon Oliver and Jerick Johnson. That list reads like a game where driver's names aren't licensed so they have to make them up.

@ I doubt he broke even, I bet he still put more into it than he got out of it. But hey, he got to own his own race team, gave some drivers opportunities behind the wheel, and got to drive some race cars. Didn’t run many laps but still got to do what most people dream of doing

Dillon Oliver attempted 8 truck races in 2009/10, DNQing 3 of them. He announced he would run the Charlotte truck race in 2011 for Chuck Tuck Motorsports, but never showed up. He's still racing, mostly late models & street stocks, with his last race being the All-American 40 street stock event at Nashville Fairgrounds. He finished 14th. (Chad Chaffin, that guy that landed a blowover in a truck race at Daytona that one time, finished 2nd.)
