Prachtige auto joh! Mijn vader reed vanaf 1978 in een Kadett C1 sedan, in 70's rood. Het was een 2-deurs, met precies dezelfde synthetische zwarte bekleding op de achterbank. Niet kapot te krijgen. Voorstoel omhoog klappen, en dan moest je als kind op die gloeiend hete achterbank gaan zitten, en de auto had de hele dag in de zon gestaan....Het kenteken zat niet heel ver van het kenteken van deze auto af; 72-RJ-91. Ik heb er nog eens naar gezocht, maar ik kwam erachter dat dit kenteken helaas niet meer rondrijdt... Het waren de auto's van de gewone man, naast de Ford Escort en de Volkswagen Golf. Zelf heb ik nog een B-kadett gehad. De C-Kadett was een opvolger van de B-versie, qua vormgeving maar in technisch opzicht niet heel veel anders. Werkpaarden, voor de standaarden uit die tijd.

Mijn eerste auto was ook een Opel Kadett City 1.2N, een blauwe uit 1977. In 1988 gekocht voor 750 gulden. Ik noemde 'm Cadettilac. Had er een stuur uit een Commodore ingezet. Veel te hard mee gereden, zelf een toerenteller ingebouwd. Rapido vouwcaravan erachter en naar Luxemburg gereden. Ken je die snelweg onder Luik, met die fikse heuvels op en af? 120 Bergaf, met die Rapido erachter. Het ding liep zonder aanhanger altijd 140 op de teller, wind mee of tegen. Ook nog mee naar Parijs geweest, met een kapotte radiator, hoog zomer. Dus toch vol de verwarming aan, en maar één raampje open omdat aan de passagierskant het raam muurvast zat. Topautootje, goede herinneringen aan!

AS from the First to the Second,or, to Neutral from the 3. Gear, Push it to the right and then up again to the fourth. The whole sequence : Pull the stick towards the wheel, then down into First. Then the stick Up to Neutral. The Stick then moves by itself slightly to the right. Then you Push it Up into Second. then down, passing Neutral into third.Then as stated above. The Idea was that you could easily Shift from Second to third , and Back again when driving in the City. Return ist above the First.

Possibly later than 1954, headlights were not in the mudguards but next to the grill and the engine was less than 1000cc, more like 850 cc

It's definitely from 1954.. Headlights are in the correct place with the cheese grater grille. And they put an overhauled Gold sealed 1000cc engine in it..

Deffo ‘54, lights were raised to comply with USA laws because Morris needed to sell overseas to boost the UK economy after the war. A rare model, cheese grater grill was replaced soon afterwards. Gold seal engines were used as factory replacements if there was engine failure during guarantee period. Gold seals were all built by hand.

Es verbietet gerade in Deutschland das Bauamt den Leuten abgemeldete Autos oder Autos mit Saisonkennzeichen oder Oldtimer in Garagen zu stellen, Nachbar hat darum eine hohe Strafe reingewürgt bekommen und ich musste meinen BMW E3 BJ 1976 nun verkaufen da ich auf Befehl des Bauamtes den nicht mehr in die Garage stellen darf und auch draußen nicht mehr daran basteln (Im eigenen abgeschotteten Garten!) und anmelden kann ich ihn nicht da die Karosse noch nicht fertig saniert ist...die neue Gavvo Gesetzgebung untersagt jede Handlung in der Garage außer rein und rausfahren oder Aus & Einladen kathegorisch (sogar das Staubsaugen!). Ich mußte sogar meinen Oldi, Kompressor und den Werktisch raus in den Schnee stellen davon ein Foto machen und an die Bauüberwachung senden. Zukünftig sollen abemeldete Autos auch nicht mehr abgestellt werden dürfen da diese auf Privatgrund als Bauwerk gelten sobald sie abgemeldet sind und man dann automatisch angeschrieben wird und nach einem Bauantrag gefragt, den man natürlich niemals bekommt!
