I have a really hard time submitting with the umaplata, I’m 5’4” at 165lbs. My body just can’t get the leverage that easily. I have been catching the reversal and winding up in side control with the arm trapped. My new thing is the back triangle from mount or knee ride. I catch it a lot…

What I would recommend is to watch at least 5 different individuals teaching it so you can get at least 5 different angles of the technique, then try to imitate what you learned as best you can. I believe in you, you got this. :)

Lately Triangle chokes have been what I've been really thriving on lately. I have not gotten an armbar from back mount. This last Wednesday I got first body triangle. Works like a charm!

Fascinating. I've never heard of a flying omoplata but there it is, happening right before my eyes. I do Judo so omoplata (sankaku garami) is a questionable technique in competition but your execution was really well done in this "live" situation.
