I’m only starting to watch this video. It’s great already! I don’t own this camera but use it a lot for livestream at my church. We do multi camera shoots and use this model on tripod. We use a zoom controller on the one tripod arm. Recently we have started having problems with the auto focus going in and out. I would use manual focus and tried this morning but it didn’t work on the focus ring. The ring only did a zoom function. I think I know the answer to this question but does it sound like it needs to be restarted? Otherwise starting like you are in this video? Thanks so much for your video!

Hello! Tell me how to make the time countdown on the screen always start from zero on the camera, without going into the menu every time and without resetting the counter. Now each video is simply added to the total time, but I need to shoot short videos often and quickly, without noting the start time of each one.

Hi Gus, I use Canon XA11 for my short videos for social media. I usually use it in vertical. I use mirror image mode while recording myself. I am really worried about your advices. Especially AUTO or M mode? which do you prefer. What do you advice for a blur background? Thank you.

The outdoor footage is not great. However, I've seen very good footage from XA50s. Could this be because the XA60 doesn't have a log profile, making it harder to color grade effectively?

I purchased a Canon XA50 to record local aerobatic competitions. These are not airshows, they are competitions, so the planes are a lot higher in the sky (1,500 feet). I just could not get my XA50 to lock on to the planes and focus, it just kept hunting. I switched to a DSLR with a zoom lens and it locked on immediately. I was really hoping the XA50 would work and maybe I am doing something wrong (I am new to camcorders). But it really struggled to record aerobatic planes. I want to give the XA50 another chance but I will likely sell it.

There are plenty of people who already take great stills of birds with the many thousands of dollars of camera and lenses, but seeing a video and hearing the sounds, even if it isn't the highest levels of resolution, is something else entirely.

great video. reason #6 is indie fiction filmmaking - features and shorts. I shot my feature Werewolf Ninja Philosopher on a Canon XA11 and it screened for 2 weeks in NYC, 1 week in Chicago, was selected as one of the best films of the year (2019) by a Chicago film critic. I also shot 2 other movies recently on camcorders - The Secret Society For Slow Romance (2022) - on the Sony MC88, and Cosmic Disco Detective Rene (2023) - on the Canon XA50. I Just got the Canon G70 (may switch it out for an XA60 soon, for the XLR handle) for the next movie. For solo or small team indie filmmaking camcorders are best - easy to operate, no need to swap lenses, can work reliably all day,, and can capture great footage for cinematic looking color grade work later. all of my films are on Vimeo VOD now (a couple are on KZbin), and they will make it to Amazon, other outlets in near future through FilmHub (that's the plan :)).

What brand of mic are you using?

Do you encounter backlit issue with this XA11? When you have a brighter scene in the background, the foreground will be underexposed. Even auto backlit function in cam doesn't help.
